Not everyone who smokes gets lung cancer....Not everyone who gets lung cancer smoked. My sister never took a puff in her life --- yet she got it, and after a long 13 month battle, it took her life. Cancer is a mystery - they say we all carry it in our bodies -- there are just as mysterious factors which trigger it into action. Sorry to hear of the loses posted.

I look at CS as a form of entertainment at times...when I'm stuck or bored and have nothing to do. There are some nice people here with whom I enjoy talking and wouldn't mind meeting some day.

I've seen a few testimonials from those who have experienced success - but the success stories pale in comparison to the failure stories. I think a lot of the people here have good intentions and the desire - it is a large community of people and distance is a factor in many potential relationships. Then if you meet someone, the hard work comes - in traditional, local meetings - you live nearby and can spend time developing a relationship - with the long distance relationship - you don't have that advantage, and some people have a hard time over coming that. The tendancy could be to rush into something and make a big mistake. It's hard to leave your life behind for someone you hardly know --- even afer all the visits, emails, phone calls, etc. - to risk it all - is not for the faint of heart for sure.

ohhh.....you sell yourself short Vinny....more like bees to honey! I've been here not quite a month -- have learned which threads (or should I say authors of threads) to join in and which to avoid.... People have generally been very welcoming and pleasant.

What I have been tired of is all the "pity" polls -- I guess like everyone else....

I find that insulting.....what right do you have to say this? I am born and raised in Texas - traveled and lived in others -- still the place I'd rather be living than any other. And FYI - GWB was not born in Texas, he may have managed to get the good ole' white boy establishment to put him in the govs office -- but he "ain't" Texan.

From your comments, I guess you're looking for women outside Texas, since we're no longer the prettiest and seem to be among the fattest. Good luck on that -- hopefully all the women on here search member's forum comments to get the bigger pic.

Sadly there are those who follow "I love You" with those other 3 words ..."no, I don't". I'm so sorry to hear of your pain - I agree tht sometimes those words do mean so little to some people - I think we don't always truly understand the depth that those words have on the heart of the receiver. Here's wishing that 2009 brings you the one who is meant for you!

Oh definitely true! It happens in real life and online. There are some on here that won't talk with someone who doensn't have a pic up. Just goes to show that even online, people are driven by appearances.

I was thinking that IF I was in this situation and wanted to meet someone in person -- I think the best thing would be to meet half way - each having a separate hotel room - and see how things progressed from there.

Great thread....you're right --- YES WE CAN! Everyone can make a difference in the life of another with just small personal sacrifices - and a greater difference if we want. For myself - I'm supporting a child thru the CCF -- for the price of 3 coffees at Starbucks every month --- I CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! May 2009 bring your peace of heart, mind, and soul !
