If you're truly concerned about another's feelings, as I suppose we all should be, focus on a positive first.
Surely there's an appealling characteristic about the person that you could compliment, then state why you're not interested. Ex: I see that you don't want children, you're too far away, we seem to have different views regarding particular topics, etc.
Just read most of this thread and it all gives the impression of imposing stereotypes.
If you can't say what you mean to someone, you have no business talking to 'em.
If you're with someone and you think you're not being heard, you've settled for less than what you're looking for.
If you categorize all men or women as one way or another, you have no business on a singles site because you're not emotionally available, open minded or stable enough.
