RE: Gerry Adams

This thread was the first time I ever heard Gerry Adams referred to as a gangster and you concur with that;
I am requesting you to provide evidence to support this assertion.

RE: Gerry Adams

Do you think its not possible to be a leader of the Republican movement without been a green booked member of the IRA. I have seen people who were not sworn in members but who contributed materially, logistically and vastly more than some who were oath volunteers.
I always viwed Gerry Adams as the political leader and Martin Mc Guinness as leader of the Army. Adams importance to me is not was he this or was he that but is he furthering at a strategic level the objectives and goals of the people who vote Sinn Fein.

RE: Gerry Adams

The only aspect of your post I agreed with was the one about China and Hong Kong.
I fail to see why you called Silent Cliche a bigoted person or a total fool when they presented their opinions in a normal manner.
I see no signs of a fool and the the dictionary's definition of a bigot would rule them out in this as well.
Your utterence's are more in line with a person who just cant handle the truth and the historical accuracy of Silent Clice's post. That in my opinion is why you resorted to name calling as a cop out from debating the points he made. By disengaging from the debate at this stage you are like the kid who takes the ball home midgame because his goal was ruled out.

RE: Gerry Adams

Thank you for that precisely written post. Those in power that forget or ignore history are destined to repeat the mistakes of the past. We should not forget it to placate those in these threads that would prefer that because the truth makes them uncomfortable. Everywhere outside the Island of Britain where the UK exercises sovereignty was got through violence intimidation and ethnic cleansing and was retained by force or the implicit threat of it. Let us go forth from day and learn from the past to evolve a more peacefull future

RE: Gerry Adams

As you well know Scap was turned by M15 and his actions were consistent to their requirements.

RE: Gerry Adams

I doubt very much that the IRA leadership sanctioned the killing of innocent people. Because of the level of surveillence There was a lot of Autonomy given to individual Commanders. It is my assertion that some of those Commanders were not suitable to fulfill their function and their rash actions resulted in the loss of life. When this happened they were usually relieved of their command as their actions were contrary to Republican ideals
as defined by the Army Council.

RE: Gerry Adams

The fate of a people is not going to be decided by only those two people you know.

RE: Gerry Adams

My exact words were "made an effort to finish the job" The job i am referring to would be the objective of Republicans a United Ireland and their means was waging war by all justifiable means.

RE: Gerry Adams

I dont think the men from South Armagh who were the backbone of the Republican army would have condoned an Agreement that would allow the outcome you predict.

RE: Gerry Adams

The problems in my opinion is that the Loyalists are always tring to minimise the speed of change to a normal society which the vast majority of the people living in both countries wanted.
I would say dont forget the past but dont become a prisoner of it either.
I think the British Goverment no longer has a Stategic wish to stay in Ireland and what we are looking at a long phased out disengagement from the affairs of Ireland as part of the overall agreement between the participants in this conflict.
As an Irishman, a patriot and an Ulsterman I look forward to an eventual normal relationship between Britain and Ireland.

RE: Gerry Adams

Well that wasn't very sporting of God to forsake good ole Ireland. There was a lot of taxpayers money wasted trying to prove that the North of Ireland was as British as Finchley to quote Mrs Thatcher.cheers

RE: Gerry Adams

That conflict had consequences for a lot of people who gave years of their lives who otherwise in different times could have led normal lives and had a beer with the man they found themselves looking down a rifle at. In all sides its the man at the bottom who gets the most of the heat. Well those days are over to the best of my knowledge.

IS HUMANITY AT THREAT FROM GLAOBAL WARMING OR GLOBAL POPULATION

My dad used to have a saying; It is not death we should fear, but rather never begining to live our life to its potential.
If the Asteroid hits the US, that chap in Pakistan (Bin Laden) will say its God's will that the Infidels got hit.
"You love life he loves Death"

RE: Gerry Adams

Well I know people who get their rent paid and Im nearly sure Electric is included. if that's not free housing what is it? If you own the house you live in you dont get any additional allowance. Dont get me wrong I have nothing against those people who lost their jobs in the last few years getting some of the money they paid in back when times got tough for them. However it is a statistical fact that during the height of the boom when 100000 people a year were coming to Ireland to work, there were still 180000 native Irish signing on. Its those folks that I have a gripe with.
I think there is nothing to stop young single people from going "where ever the work is" in the world the way I did and not waste a life waiting to be spoon fed by the goverment.

RE: Gerry Adams

The authorities finally seemed to have cottoned on to that and are getting stricter Im told. The childrens allowance makes it not realistic to work if you have a lot of kids. You also get free Electricity and housing and Medical care. I am a struggling self employed person and I resent see my taxes giving the people who dont work a better lifestyle than me.
Margaret Thatcher "what a piece of work" she was. She thought she was right all the time. Well I wont upset you any more by praising her handshake

IS HUMANITY AT THREAT FROM GLAOBAL WARMING OR GLOBAL POPULATION

Those 2012 idiots are sure going to look like fools on the 22nd of Dec 2012. No doubt those whackos will have an answer for that too. In my opinion the world ends for each of us when we die so it will be correct for a lot of people on this planet on the specified day.beer

RE: Gerry Adams

Now your last post was much more in the spirit of friendship
I have moved a long way in my own attitude in the last twenty years. The movement from those in Ireland who claim allegiance to the Union Flag is very reluctantly and full of suspician.
They would not have moved at all if the British goverment had not laid it on the line to them. It is all moving in the right direction for both Ireland and Britain's long term interests.
It is infinitely better than the Israel Palestine situation which has got more intractible as the decades past.
I think the main problems in Ireland from an economic point of view is a bloated overpaid civil service and an overpaid welfare system which stifles inititive. Margaret Thatcher your glorious Ex PM had some qualities that I admired when it came to getting the unions to refrain from trying to dictate Goverment policy

RE: Gerry Adams

I don't see being a pragmatic Patriot as living in the past. I like the British people I have met but I dont like their prolonged intrusion in a country where they dont belong.
If any country is guilty of holding on to the past its Britain by following the US into battle where the interests of the British people do not warrant that, but I know it creates the illusion of greatness.
My stance is not anti Europe unless you condone a United States of Europe. There is a sizeable portion of Britain who condone leaving the EU. The shadow PM would like to roll back the Lisbon treaty if reelected. Holding on to the Sterling currency when all other Nations in the EU have adopted the Euro is holding on to the past.
I am very touched that you are so concerned about policing the remaining six counties of Ulster as too much for the poor Irish that you must continue funding it as opposed to puting a strain on poor Paddy. I know the Celtic tiger is extinct but I also fear the British Lion is like a Neandrathall caught between the glory of the past and the reality of the present.
Ireland was ruled by the people who lived there long before your people arrived and it will eventaully have a soverign goverment for all the people who inhabit it long after your last soldier takes a one way ticket back to old blighty.

RE: If you were the sun....

If I was the sun I would defy gravity revolve around the earth the way the Bible said until that heathen Galileo came up with his new fangled ideas. He almost got burned at the stake for his blasphemy. The new law of phsics that would come into existence would be known as "eagles law of absurdity"head banger head banger head banger confused

RE: Gerry Adams

I could not have put it bettercheers
Truth and the pursuit of justice are good assets to have on your side when striving for a democratic inclusive Ireland who's destiny has been too long delayed.
Justice delayed is justice denied

If you cant find that may I suggest two skinny ones!rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

IS HUMANITY AT THREAT FROM GLAOBAL WARMING OR GLOBAL POPULATION

In 1900 the worlds population was just over 1 billion.
In 1960 the worlds population was 3 billion approx.
In 2000 it was 6 billion approx.
It is my assertion that this exponential rise in population is the greatest threat to mankind and will contribute significantly to greenhouse gases. The resultant increase in the CO2 levels could exceed the critical three degrees higher than pre industrialisation levels. The supercomputer simulations predict that the process becomes irreversible at this stage.

(1) Why have I never heard in the media about this significant source of greenhouse gases.
(2) Why is the UN not taking action in countries who are experiencing a population explosion and who are not capable of feeding the children they already have.
(3) Why is China vilified for taking pragmatic responsible steps to address this.

In my opinion the reason that its not mentioned is because its such a political and religous hot potatoe. For me its the Elephant in the room that everyone ignores.

RE: Should East Jeruselem be the future Palistian capital?

i see you are back on active service on this thread. Im thinking of taking a political discussion vacation after the marathon thread that I hostedcheers

Colonisation of Palestine (acceptable or unacceptable)

I am slightly concerned about getting on a Pentagon list.
It has always been my intent to travel to the middle east to see all the biblical areas. I could now be denied entry to Israel because of this.
You and I if we met could have long exchanges and then sit down and have a light refreshment together and be pleased that we put up a good argument to support what we have come to believe as the truth. I will never stoop so low as to try and silence those that opose me.

Colonisation of Palestine (acceptable or unacceptable)

If this is the rules of connecting singles I was simply not aware as I only joined this site about a week ago so am new.
I will take your word for that and adhere to that doctrine in the future. I was motivated to expose intimidation and censorship.
If they folks i am writing to in the thread do not have a problem with my opinion then I am not going to listen to this chap in Missouri. My apoligies to all if I broke a rule that you hold dear.

Colonisation of Palestine (acceptable or unacceptable)

Oh Lily lady from previous posts I have the greatest respect for you and I know what you write are your deeply held convictions and you believe your version of history as much as I believe the definitive version.
Hamas as Ive stated previously are fanatical but were orignally financed by Israel to disrupt Palestinian's speaking with one voice. They turned into a Frankenstein for Israel.
Einszagruppe In WW2 under the command of Ernest Rommel had as a sole objective of siezing the oilfields in Iran and Saudia Arabia. They were stoped at El Alamain
I agree any State should have the right to defend itself and all the people it controls in a way that doesen't infringe on Human rights for Palestinians.
The US provides a large direct financial grant to Israel on an annual basis. The Israeli military can purchase any weapon short of nuclear at a reduced rate from the US.
There are permanent patriot missle batteries since 1991 to protect Israel from incoming missiles from possible arab neighbours.
In 1967 Israel launched what they called a pre emptive strike and made a land grab flouting many UN resolutions then and since.
In 1973 the US military supplied the Israeli airforce with air to air missles and a guarantee that if the going got tough they would step in.
In the late 1960's The US, France and Britain agreed that Israel should be allowed to have nuclear weapons because of its strategic importance in the standoff with the Soviet Union.
Hizbolladh captured Israeli soldiers during a border skermish in 2006 resulting in Israel launching a massive offensive as a reprisel.
All of the Arab neighbours are dictatorship and are more interested in maintaining domestic power than destroying Israel. They do not have the military infrastructure to seriously threaten Israel's military and they know it.
Finally your statement that Jews do not persecute Palestinians is just not true on the ground. Tell that to the Palestinian farmer who has to go through a wall to get from oneside of his farm to another.
I would like if you would do some serious research on what I have written here and if you think I am wrong then show me where.
If I am I will publically admit it and I would like you to pledge likewise. My objective is not to score points but to document facts that were derived from a multitude of sources

Colonisation of Palestine (acceptable or unacceptable)

This message addresses Lilly Lady's previous post
I think the main reason why the other arab countries do not take the Palestinians is because they simply want them to be returned to the lands the used to live in "Palestine".
It would be very convenient for Israel if another country solved the problem it created. The Palestinians are not Trans Jordanians they are Palestinians-This is like something Netanyahoo would dream up and attest to it as a fact. Its a myth
I abhor ethnic cleansing either by violence or the fear of violence. You mention how the jews were turned away in many places after WW2. The Palestinians were not in that predicament until 1947 as they were happy at home in Palestine until Menackim Begin and his Irgun terrorists/freedom fighters tipped the scales in favour of the jews.
I am not Anti semitic because I think Israel and the Palestinians should share the land of Palestine instead of the current apatheid state that Israel is. The right wing in Israel are determined to have an ethnically pure jewish state and gradually push the non jews to the fringes of society.
I used to date a Jewish girl and we got on great but didnt dwell too much on this subject.
The enemies of peace are in all sides. I fear Israel is trying to create the illusion of being interested in a peace process as it gradually further erodes the last 20% of the Palestinian ghetto (West Bank). When that is complete they will simply ignore all Palestinians.
I am very sad that the Jewish race of people who suffered so much persecution in the past became the persecutors of the Palestinains by their actions since zionism came to the fore.
