RE: What was your first ever music purchase?

not true, for any artist you hear on the radio there are a thousand that never get on the radio, and many of them are very worth checking out, alot of people i know, casual friends will hear music in my car and say wow thats great what is that, when i tell them, their response is how come i havent heard of it? BECAUSE IT WASNT ON THE RADIO!!i'm a huge fan of many artists that have been recording music and performing for 40 years, maybe they had a song that got limited airplay 30 years ago but still are putting out very fun, interesting music, you are missing out on a whole universe of great music if your only source for it is what passes for radio
these days.cheers

RE: USA Versus the UK

stevie ray vaughan/the romantics/black flag/ the 80's were a rough decade for music in my opinion although there were some decent artists coming up in the 80's. there was a huge blues boom here in the states with the popularity of stevie ray' there was great interest in all the great blues artists from the 60's/70's these artists found a wider audience in the 80's because alot of folks felt the 80's weren't giving them much of anything to their liking, so people like, son seals/lonnie brooks/albert collins/lonnie mack/koko taylor/roy buchanan and many others were putting fantastic music in the 80's. actually the artists i mentioned sold more records in the 80's than they did while they were becoming legends in the previous decades.cheers
