RE: Paloma Tankless Water Heater

Ain't it amazing ... you can get advice on just about any subject in these forums.

I don't know anything about this hot water heater or it's installation however, my electric hot water heater recently caught fire and my home owners insurance completely covered the cost of a new once less the deductible. So if you haven't already thought of it, I would suggest checking with your insurance company.

RE: ~~~~~~~~ Americans ....

" The bald eagle was chosen June 20, 1782 as the emblem of the United States of American, because of its long life, great strength and majestic looks, and also because it was then believed to exist only on this continent."

RE: Parents of Grown Children please respond...

I believe we are family forever. I myself have needed help and my mother never put any age limitations on helping. That being said, I think you must use some judgment or the child finds it easier to ask for help often rather than trying to bail themselves out first. Show guidance but at the same time teach independence.

Medical leave of absence

"As it stands today, FMLA allots 12 weeks, or 480 hours, of unpaid time off to employees with job protection. This leave can be used for serious personal illness, medical treatments, or the birth of a child. "

Even if she qualified, this law only allots 12 weeks, not 4 months. She also said because of her age, she will likely need more than 4 months because she will not heal as quickly.

Medical leave of absence

"Small companies may not have to comply with FMLA law. The size requirement for application of FMLA is 50 or more employees within a 75 mile radius. Companies that have less than 50 employees within 75 miles can terminate a person on extended leave because they are not protected under FMLA.

Employees who have not worked a minimum of one year or 1,250 hours for that employer are not entitled to the job-protected leave as described. If a person has not worked the required hours or at least a year, they are not covered under FMLA. If they take an extended leave, it is possible that they will not be allowed to return."

This company has 40 employees. The person I speak of is 74 years old, holds the position of housekeeper and works part time. Even though she started working for the company back when Moses wore knickers, I don't believe this law applies to her.

Medical leave of absence

If you had to have surgery and recovery time was expected to be about 4 months, do you think your employer should be obligated to hold your job for you until you get back?

How do you help ...

I really don't know this man well, he is retired from law enforcement in Florida. He is a good hearted guy and a hard worker.

He asked a friend of mine for help, she was the one who introduced him to AA. It was not court ordered.

How do you help ...

I am such a co-dependent doh

But I am having such a hard just sitting here ignoring the problem like it doesn't exist especially when I know the possible outcome.

How do you help ...

Didn't he admit he needed help by going through detox and attending an AA meeting?

How do you help ...

So we just stand by and let him kill himself?

How do you help ...

someone who doesn't want to be helped. Not even enough to help themselves?

I recently played a small part in helping someone go through detox. I saw their struggle and pain. After several days of this and support from local AA members, they checked out and went home. Today they were seen walking the streets ... drunk again.sigh

I overheard concerned people say they only give him a couple days before reading his obituary in the paper.

How are we to help this person?

RE: Ok then! Do women

I agree. I don't need a man to survive. But I am most certainly much happier with one's companionship. Life now has a brighter outlook.

RE: Ok then! Do women

I was just pondering the same thing ... or is it that men are confident enough to admit it and women are not?
