"God helps those who help themselves" - it would be your own efforts that dug the hole but God gave you the strength and presence of mind to survive and dig it.
I have a new house. I worked 2 jobs for 10 years to come up with the money for a down payment. I fought every bank in the area until I found one who would finance my new house. Yes I put the effort into this project myself but it was God that gave me the will power, stubborness, and strength to do all this.
Every night when I drive into my driveway ... I count my blessings!
Well since no one is coughing up details, I will be the first but don't tell anyone
A couple of years ago at Christmas, I only had one present under the tree for my son (age 24). I don't like to waste money on gifts just for the sake of quantity and I was at a loss as to what else to get him.
I thought long and hard for other items he might want - the only thing I KNEW he would want was marijuana. This was no easy task as I don't smoke and didn't know how to get any.
To make a long story short, he still chuckles about that Christmas to this day. Not because of what he got but that his mother got it for him, he knows I don't really approve.
If my mother ever found this out she would disown me
I like your way of thinking and I think it would impress her but not for a first date.
Most mothers are very protective of their children especially so soon after the break up of "the family". My guess is she will be pleased with the suggestion of including the kids but will decline the offer until she knows you better.
Well I am usually in the Mind my own Business camp like your mum but this is your brother. But if he is that taken with her, the proof better be undeniable.
Thanks - Maybe the next time a younger man asks me out I should simply say ... I would love to have dinner with you, I am 53, does this matter to you? I could save him the cost of a dinner.
I can relate sundance. The last 5 dates I've had, men ask me out, we have a great time but as soon as they find out I am 53, the date is over and I never hear from them again. It is so obvious it's makes me chuckle.
I don't think lying about it will help. The truth will eventually be known. I'd rather end the relationship before coming emotionally involved if age is that big an issue with these men.
Just as a point of interest, I found this in a google search on Obama's religious upbringing and current beliefs.
"And I speak with some experience on this matter. I was not raised in a particularly religious household, as undoubtedly many in the audience were. My father, who returned to Kenya when I was just two, was born Muslim but as an adult became an atheist. My mother, whose parents were non-practicing Baptists and Methodists, was probably one of the most spiritual and kindest people I've ever known, but grew up with a healthy skepticism of organized religion herself. As a consequence, so did I.
It wasn't until after college, when I went to Chicago to work as a community organizer for a group of Christian churches, that I confronted my own spiritual dilemma."
