and the past is exactly that.. *The Past*.. history.. gone.. nothing anyone can ever say or do will change the past. EVER.. so what is the point in us pulling it about and trying to figure out the whys and wherefores?
That's why in situations like this.. we need to leave the past where it is.. LEARN from it.. :: bangs on again about 'Life Lessons' :::
Kids are often a lot more resilient than we give them credit for.
When the time comes. just be the best dad you can be..
Make it special.. give them something to remember.
The first Christmas for my children without their dad.. was the first year I had cooked Christmas dinner.. (he would never let me before)
Anyway.. the kids and I had a great day.. they helped me cook.. (whilst singing and bouncing about to the Christmas songs)..
I let them stay up late.. we had a midnight candle lit buffet on Christmas eve.. STUFFED our faces around the table .. (in our night clothes haha).. We had chocolate fondues.. and I let them have a LITTLE eggnog.
We had a great time on our *First Christmas with the other parent*
On Christmas day.. they told me how MUCH they prefer my Christmas dinner to their dads.
( I didn't dare tell them I'd bought half of it frozen haha)
