Last Beat

In her bed of crisp white linen
She gazes all around.
Her rheumy eyes alert
Listen to that sound.
The beat of a heart
A sigh of old age...
She's glad to have lived
A long, happy life
Mother to her chldren
To her husband, a wife.
Tears glisten in her eyes
As all comes to an end.
A soft, quiet smile
Is all she has left to send.

Memories fade.........
As she passes from time.....

About this poem:
How I imagined my Nanna when she passed many years ago...I was only twelve and lived overseas at the time.

Teardrops

Teardrops trace their path
Silver streams of joy
Down the cheeks
Across the lips
Wet lashes brush
Against his neck
He holds her near
She nestles deep
At last content
And complete
