Slide into sleep with me
and dream the nightmare
waiting for my weary fingers
weaving through his mane
before the polished hoofs
flash starlight
the flaring nostrils puff with flames
reflecting in the gleaming
midnight eyes
as I ride my willful way
into damnation
the rolling dark a cloak
to mask the many wounds
I bleed from, toll to the Wild Hunt
payment for the games I choose to play
faerie glamour haloing my flesh
oil slick with rainbows dancing
in the shadows at the fold of arm
the curve of thigh hiding all the pain
that lives beneath the skin
the knives in mermaids’ feet
making agony of ecstasy
two sided coin I cherish
biting deep to prove the gold
and hold back the screams
my dreams demand
on my headlong rush
toward the morning.

Defenses down, the naked soul peers out
blinking in the glare of love light
your light bathing me
in eager fingers
working on the buckles
of the armour to my heart.
No hurricane to harm me
just gentle breezes of
i love you
breathed across my ear
carrying the flavour
of many years of yearning
for completion, satisfaction
promised in the bonding Spirit gave us
which crumbled
under pressures
we were too young
to understand, withstand
we shattered into pieces
blown apart in time and space
till Spirit took a hand
to mend what should never
have been broken
in the first place
manifested light
that still gleams in the
moody shadowed
forever darkness
of your eyes
that look intent enough
to mark me with your logo
initials and a love song
to keep me breathing
the sweet dark light
we live in.

first light turns the upright
of my nightlight
into silver
gleaming at the edge
of vision opening the path
to day
birdsong flowers
sweet and plangent
hitting notes cut harshly
by the awkward squawk of parrot
in the distance
bird on the run from cages
singing in a raucous joy
I envy
captured in reluctant flesh
that cannot feel the gentle brush
of wind or rain
but still warms in the sun.
