She was a slippery frozen mermaid
Just sitting there on a mossy rock at the edge of the creek
She was so relaxed and unafraid
And I again I searched and found what I did not seek
She was with me for just a while
Oh, but how she made me smile

I knew what you were thinking. I was there on the other side when you went into the dark... there was a hole torn in my soul and the sky began to cry you were gone it was all a dream you sold your soul for a ticket to a bad movie that would never end only fade into grey and grey and grey days without end despair enveloped me and I could hardly breathe but then I went to the forest and the animals were afraid of the light coming from my skin and the smell of the sun and the emerald glow of my eyes upon them and so I walked without fear and I spoke my secrets to the mountains and told terrible lies to the trees just to see their leaves change colors and fall like me

So I threw it all away no good to me and I ran as fast as I could but I was right there behind me I was so sick and afraid of the light I closed my eyes again and I kept running but it didn’t matter where or how fast I was falling into the intense heat and I saw them meaningless heartless coming for us we were using it all up just a sickness they knew and wanted us gone they wanted it all so I died and it was OK floating peaceful darkness no feeling of myself feeling nothing and not feeling myself not feeling afraid and I was dead and dreaming dead then I was alive and when they asked why I did not have the answer I opened my eyes but I didn’t want to not want the infinite peaceful darkness the endless empty nothing no pain hunger happiness hope taste touch love words thoughts dreams no fear the walk becomes time and nothing and everything again
