The one who began this chase
Is no longer running,
He has slowed to a walk.
He is prepared to give up.

I tease.
I banter.
I tempt him.

But he is strong willed.
He won't be hurt again...

But why the chase in the beginning?
Why set the desires free?
Why even begin a chase,
When it is so easily given up on...

So now I am am running alone.

I skip.
I hop.
I playfully jig.

But when I look back
-He isn't even watching...

He has given up,
Before it even had a chance to begin...

He has stopped,
Before we had the time... the opportunity...

So I turn and follow him.

His rejection hurts.

His pain is so vivid that I am scared...

I do not want to be hurt either...

So carefully,
Without touching.
Without words.
Without emotions.

We walk.

Side by side.

Knowing that there will always be 'this'

The friendship.

Beside me... on my bed - the pillow is empty.
In the darkness I imagine a body beneath the blankets
WIth a gentle face upon the pillow
- Resting gently
Sleeping peacefully...

But in the harsh light of the early dawn

I realise

- The pillow is empty

- The blankets are flat

And the face I imagine is only in my dreams...


Oh to wake

In the morning

And see that face

Beside me


Once more...

I see Nothing

I hear Nothing

The Nothing is closing in

In a crowd it suffocates me

As it breathes in my air

As the lonliness engulfs me

I know I'm not alone

The emptiness
Finally filled
With warmth
And longing
And lust
Is diminished in my mind.

The touch of lips and teeth and tongues
Kissing
Licking
Biting
Arouse.

As the legs begin to shudder
Yet again
I hear the sudden sharpness of the breath
And realize that it is
My own.
