Hello FBF, Yes this is a high lying area but by no means the highest point on this major route out of the city… there’s approximately another half mile of climbing to Ecclesall terminus (tram stop originally) then a couple of level miles through Whirlow then a steady climb again for a couple of miles to the top of Blacka Moor then a gradual descent down the other side past Fox House and into Hathersage in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire.
Sheffield is built on hills surrounding a natural amphitheatre created at the confluence of five rivers and it’s not far from the Pennines, some parts of the city are over 500 metres above sea level.

the saddest part about that show is that we really do get foolish people like what you see on the show. I would like to think that the vast majority of folks here are decent law abiding citizens but even I have witnessed some real dopes here.But of course I think there are those sorts of folks everywhere.

I have been fortunate enough to get to see this monument several times. One of my favorite memories is playing my guitar in on of the tunnels that you go through to get into Custer State Park which is near the monument. The acoustics in the tunnel were AWESOME and as it was late in the evening with no traffic I was able to not only play until my fingers hurt too much to play anymore but I also got the most spectacular view of Mt Rushmore all lit up at night.There is also another large carving in the mountains near mt rushmore called Crazy Horse.
