These small "houses" are definitely not made to live in!
The barns are built in such way the air must be able to circulate between the boards. These barns were once built in the middle of the fields or at the edge of the fields to store the hay. The hay was picked up either buy horse or ski in winter. I wouldn't think the hay barns have been used after the farmers started to use tractors. In northern part of the country, we still have lots of them left out in the fields. The farmers can apply a small amount of money for restoring or maintaining them as a cultural heritage. I'm out in the fields a lot and it's quite a nice view!
