Am I dreaming

The sky a beautiful blue
Walking on the sand
hand in hand
Just me and you
laughing as a wave
sprays water on our face
We dance in the sand
Your body lean
You sing in my ear
Kissing my hair
I look at you
Your eyes squinted
Your smile crooked
I lean in to your ear
as I whisper
tell me a secret
are you a dream
or is this us

A Quiet Light

That quiet light that shines in the night
Above the porch door and the snowy floor
What draws a smile wide for what’s inside
How the warmth in kind illuminates the mind
For our hearts be known the love that’s shown
So come on inside and do not hide
Nice and cozy make your cheeks all rosy
Have a seat by the fire and please admire
Recognize the pleasance of your presence
And know my dear you’re welcome here

I'd Only Just Surrendered

You know.
How you drop by,
throwing smiles.
A tickle of yearn.
With passion to burn.

Sometimes.
When you're gone,
out of my mind,
I'd surrender to forgetting and,
the memories stop fretting.

Every time.
Most not expected,
when we're disconnected,
you see what you're missing
with dreams that are blissing.

Repeatedly.
And I'd only just surrendered
to things I'd remembered.
Those times you arise,
then wave your goodbyes.

Only to return,
eternally.

About this poem:
This is about the reality that people never really leave you. They always return, either in mind or the master illusion.

Getting old!

I saw the stranger, he walked through my house,

I saw him stand and stare, like he knew I was there,

I watched him as he went on his way,

I watched him, like he was here to stay,

And I watched as he realised, that the mirror never lies.

To Old Friend

This is to you, old friend, good-bye,
farewell I say,
I know it’s sad, we’ve gone through much
with every day,
So many obstacles were in the way, kept us apart,
it‘s age
And time of course, and distance great,
the least to say.
So many hindrances there were to add
to our daily stress.
Our lives will dwindle now apart in strife
and total waste.
I’ve nothing special to add to farewell,
have nothing else to say, except be well!

NOSTALGIA

It saddens me, yes saddens…when I think back in my life
To the times when things were tough, yet there was still
Such joy…such hope…such happy thoughts.
We were a family then…caring, sharing, laughing, dancing, singing, playing, living
From day to day…in the moment…together.
But, as time passed by and our life’s direction changed, so did the separations
Become. Nothing obvious at first, creeping into our midst slowly and invisibly separating
Us, from each other, from being that ‘family’.

Nostalgia brings pain to my heart and tears to my eyes…so I try hard
To avoid her. Almost as soon as I smile when I hear a song, look at a picture, See an old acquaintance, the happiness leaves…Do I wish for the tough times again?
No, but for the joy of caring, sharing, laughing, dancing, singing, playing, living
From day to day…in the moment…together. Again.

Headed Into The Month Of May

The sun was shinning brightly today
I walked along slowly so slow
As I headed into the month of may
A nice breeze arrived and found me
And a few minutes later I caught a ride
My journey continues in a four door chevrolet
And the driver drove slowly so slow
As we headed into the month of may
Lingering in april long as I can
In the back seat beside me sat a little boy
With a toy plane and he wound that rubber band
And when we came to a stop
Out the window that toy plane flew away
Slowly so slow as it headed into the month of may

Live air

Where there is air
there is a radio dial
I recall as a child
out in the country
tuning in Sydney 2SM
on our big aerial
for music seldom heard
at home, oh what a
mystery from foreign shores
it came. Rock, rock
Uriah Heep
Deep Purple
taking the teenager away.

These days I seldom listen
to the radio, even though
no visual is actually enticing.
Do you still?

~empty pillows~

~yet~

letters are random afloat on the page
making them stick with meaning of sense
tolerant bright
segmented thoughts
collaborative keystrokes
dead pillow fought

them times when the paper the mind and the pen
will lead one a-stray from no start to no end

Cotton Candy Land

How will it be
What will we say
Will we go around in circles filling up the day

Life was so good with cotton candy and clowns
And a ferris wheel was the only place
Where we noticed the ups and downs

A black and white tv sat on a stand
And three networks were enough
To entertain the mind of man

A neighbor would wave or reach to shake your hand
Movies were mostly decent
And there was one where Elvis sang about cotton candy land
