constantly in elementary school...at least weekly, and sometimes daily, for years.
she could reach me from across two isles with her two yardsticks taped together with black electrician tape. whack!! ...across the head, arms, hands...whatever she could reach.
or she slammed a big dictionary over the back of my head while i would be nose to the paper writing away
or pull out a section of hair from behind my ear so it wouldn't show.
by grade seven, another teacher made me 'mirror' write every assignment. i'm still pretty good at writing backwards...
there's a shop near the lofts... their doctor is on skype...it's a room with a computer. appointments advised but not necessary. i happen to know that high blood pressure is an issue for receiving an MM car.
i've made so many folks laugh, telling them about your story about looking through the hole in the floor... it pretty much does sum up driving across most of canada...
it's been miserable here. castlegar and kootenays are burning too. i know folks who had to evacuate near nelson. just don't know what it's like on the way to your place. i'll call cindy/dome and see if she knows.
good to hear you're coming home! ..........
happy to know marv's ok. keep us posted please. we've got folks from manitoba helping us here now with the sechelt fire.
i think of DaMoose every day. a local tree faller died here this week. a tree fell on him while fighting the fire. because this is old rain forest, there's layers of needles and they can burn undetected, burning tree roots, the trees fall, and it creates a very dangerous situation for the fire fighters. there's banners all over the area thanking him and the fire fighters. copters are flying over the house all day long right now.
temporarily posted pics for you D. purple sky couple blocks north of us. color due to fire/smoke. yellow sky/backyard...10:00 a.m. the other day. it should be blue. the lake...is wormy lake two weeks ago. it's gone now. all burnt. and since my regular pic is a year or two old now, i included the only recent photo from this past june...lol.
i'm right on the coast. a new layer of ash covers the jeep each day. the air is a bit better today after several days of not being able to breathe outside safely, and grateful that we are not in any danger from the old mine fire. the sechelt fire is about 3 miles from our home, thankfully on the other side of the inlet. but depending on which way the wind is blowing...some days the ash looks like snow coming down. ( sechelt fire -300 hectares-40% controlled), and (elaho 15,000 hectares-0%contained).
and it's only the start of july........ :(
having said that... BC is still an awesome place to visit or live. huge diversity of climate and activities. whether you enjoy white water rafting, laying on a beach, skiing, hiking, vineyards, casual/fine dining, music and art festivals...and much more...there really is a lot to do here in BC, and much of it is free.
RE: " The Where are the Canadians Thread?"
