Big fire on my mountain last night

last evening 7-30,fire engines came up the mountain to extinguish a fire which sarted with a combine harvester in flames,by the time they arived (took 40 mins) allso the field was burning, i went to see the damage this morning, luckily the fire did not reach 2 houses only 200 mts away, but the people left when they saw the danger, applause to all firefighters.

yesterday,i was lucky the wind was blowing away from my wood which borders the field, the combine is just a heap of steel plate.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

i still have my wedding ring,but my wood is worth much more. 1 hectare of wood is worth about €12,000,and i have 6 hectares,so i am happy that it didnt go in smoke.applause cheers

Hi Robert,
Lucky man and I'm happy that the fire didn't engulfed your hectares of trees. What type of trees do you grow on ur land? I ever had the same experience and about 10 palm trees in one hectare were burnt...frustrated

Well I wasn't quite on the top of the mountain but it was near the top and I had the bonus of water from a spring further up so even in power cuts I had access to fresh water gravity fed ... loved that place and even though it took me nearly two hours to drive to work .. over the Rimutaka Hill .. it was so worth it to live in such a beautiful place. Now live on the flat close to the beach and look out of my window to a mountain range .. so it's still a nice outlook. What a change from the cobbled streets of Lancashire where I was brought up. Isn't it wonderful to live in a beautiful place applause
