What is on your mind

I spend much of my time thinking about things, whether or not I am engaged in other activities or not, I find that my mind will not turn off. As of late, my mind keeps returning to a few subjects over and over, the one that is plaguing me today is obnoxious people who are narcissistic. Who knows why these people bother me so much, perhaps because they will turn any subject into something personal where they can interject something in praise of themselves. I was talking to a friend yesterday and along comes some other people and we continue our conversation when one of the new comers recognize another person and invites them to join in. The new individual, with whom I had never met, started off with saying how nice it was to meet everyone. She seemed so nice, so we changed the subject and asked her polite questions about herself. We thought that it would be okay to return to the original conversation. We were wrong, the new person had not finished talking about herself. An hour later, I had enough of “how pretty”, “how popular”, how much money they have, and so forth. So, I excused myself and went to talk to other people. Today I was shocked to hear from one of my friends that this woman commented when I left that I must have left because I was jealous of her popularity.

What is wrong with people in this day and age? I asked my friends if they are still associating with this person and said, “why of course dear, we need someone to laugh at.” Now I find this equally vulgar. In the old days, or old school if you prefer, we would not be this two faced, we would simply tell each other in nice terms that one had their heads up their behinds and acting like a fool. This is an impossibility in the new age, people get offended over the smallest of things; even if your heart is in the right place. I prefer to be around people that will simply say what is on their mind. Whether it is good or bad, it matters not.

Here is my food for thought. If everyone tells everyone how wonderful they are while thinking that they are the exact opposite, how can we ever know when we are being a nuisance? How can we take stock of our behaviors, our manners, and so forth if we are going through life with blindfolds.

So, here is your “get out of jail free card” always tell me the truth, if my blogs are boring just say so. With your honest input, I can become a better writer and a better person.
