Living in color!
My friend John came by today and we had a very nice visit, we talked about his garden and how he was going totally green in his home. We talked about grandchildren and the anniversary of 911, where he was and what he was doing. All in all, a very nice afternoon. As he was leaving he turned to me and said, Rene keep on living in Technicolor. As normal, here was another person ruining my afternoon by giving me something to think about. I was all sit to go for a swim, take a nap and spend an evening out in one casino or another without worrying about anybody or anything. Old people, and I suspect too many young people, enjoy spending their time in such an oblivious state of mind.So here I am in front of my keyboard thinking as my fingers find the keys to translate those thoughts into words that others can understand, if they take the time to read the ramblings of an old woman. What does it mean to live in color? Does it mean that we live in touch with the world? What a noble thing to think about, to worry over everything and find solutions for the world’s problems. Well, I may not be noble because I think to have that type of mentality, the person would go stark raving mad. Does it mean that I run from place to place with an opinion on everything? If that is the definition of living in color then more than one person on this site not only lives in color, they own the state and bleed the rest of the world of all tints from pastel to the solid dark colors; a kaleidoscope of colors gone wild.. Again, that is not me. I can barely get the motivation to finish reading some of the great works of thought presented on this site so the thought of giving birth to equal and fascinating retorts or opinions are just too exhausting.
Finally in frustration with my inability to fantom what John was intimating, I called him and demanded an explanation. He first asked me what the hell are you thinking, he had just settled down for an afternoon nap after his long swim, he has plans of going out to one casino or another to spend the evening. And here I was disturbing his nap and now he has to think about what I am asking. His anger finally abated and he said, “Rene, I meant only that you still have love in your heart. With love in your heart you can still dream. If you can still dream then you have a future.”
How wonderful, the thought of living in full color abandoning the black and white as if they are old silent movies that are fun to dust off once in a while, but nothing anyone would want to spend their lives watching. Our past is gone, nothing will bring it back. The glory of beauty, the naivete of still believing in fairy tales, all the I could have done if only thoughts....gone and abandoned. Today is an offer of many things from love to health to death to wealth, all we need to do is make a decision and pray that it is the right one. But, as true of the past, we can not live in the tomorrows, today is what we have....nothing more is promised.

Good morning. I have read some of your blogs, it appears that you are a person who believes in living life to its fullest. Your input is greatly appreciated, and I do hope to see you again. By the way, I read that you are going off to India soon. That country is so rich in customs, foods, and delightful people. I feel that you will be most welcome and your time spent there will be some of your best memories when you are my age and reflect back on your life!
I thank you for your comment, but I think that my point is being missed in translation. We can always hope and plan for tomorrow, but I do not think that anyone has a guarantee that tomorrow will ever come. My point is that we must make the most of every day, hour, minute, or second we live. If we keep saying that tomorrow we will call our mother, father, sister, girlfriend, boyfriend, aunt, uncle....and tell them that we love them then they may never get the phone call. If we put our dreams into action today, then tomorrow we will have something great to talk about. Hope is a great thing and we should all keep it close and dear to us. But, we are also blessed with living right now and we need to take advantage of each opportunity rather than dream or hope that we will have the chance again.
Chocolate is good! I like to eat chocolate ice cream with slivers of shaved chocolate on top. I was told when I was young that it is not good for you, I ate it anyway. I read a couple years ago that chocolate is good for you. So, eat up and enjoy!
I have no idea of what I will look forward to at 11:59 or even midnight. I wish I could give you a clever reply, but my replies are not witty, smart, or funny.
Yes, my sense of humor is quite lively. Glad you like the cigar, many people do not approve of women having a cigar, but who cares what they think anyway!

You are such a sweet person to write such an endearing compliment! You have written some very thoughtful blogs that have given me courage and hope, to you I am grateful! Thank you for being so nice to this old woman!
How delightful, yes I accept your offer of a glass of wine. I do need to warn you, after two glasses of wine I talk too much and then I get the giggles. Thank you again.
