A persimmon orchard

On my way to the train station, I have to pass by a small persimmon orchard. In previous yrs at this time of the month, the fruits had been picked and put inside a small fruit box ready for delivery to the coop. An old couple, probably in the 70's or 80's would take turn in gathering the fruits. Until today, the fruits lay unattended and some have fallen on the ground rotting. I have the urge to gather some and leave 500 yen somewhere inside the orchard but I worry that the money no matter how small that amount was, would get lost. So, coming home this pm, I looked at the fruits sadly. Whatever happen to the old couple? The trees are beautifully grafted and the fruits are quite big. I wonder where the couple was.

You ... my sweet TATAMI ... are a Romantic! And I adore you for that! What you described could make you into a successful author for you certainly do have a way with words ... to conjure forth the most vivid scenes in fertile imaginations!

I wish that I had been there with you at that moment in time, collected the Persimmons, made enquiries about the elderly couple, and walked you home with our persimmons, after leaving a joint contribution somewhere where this could be found (in their front door perhaps?)!

Would you accept a friendship request?

happy place
Tatami, I agree with cloud, you should take the oportunity to write about your experiences . Yes you are alowed ( even encouraged ) to elaborate on the circumstances and to fill in the blanks also . Now as for the orchard and the old couple. why don't you leave a note pinned to one of the trees inquiring about the couple and the fate of the orchard . You could also ask to leave a reply so you would know there fate . In the event you get no reply you could still use the oportunity to write about it . . . . . .the ( not so literary ) tainted troll . .. sigh
go knock on the farm house door....
Go knock on their door and you might just find out whats happening, good or bad.
@cloud, no need to request for friendship. I consider who viewed esp who commented on my blogs as friends. The place is really 700 meters away from my apt.I really don't know where they live but if I'm inquisitive enough, I'll find somebody who knows. My idea is the receding number of people who tend the land. So sad to see well kept lands for yrs and gone unattended. @filly,@marss, I can't knock on the door as there's no house in there. It's closely fenced with rusting barbed wire with no house in it although there are houses around it. Thanks to all who viewed and commented. Modesty aside, I thought of doing a sort of picture book then but I ran out of will. Maybe when I reach my retirement age, I might if I'm still inspired.grin
Perhaps the old ouple is ill or unable to care for the place, or they might even have passed on.
Great blog Tatami! For many reasons... bouquet
Thanks Mr. Hugger and Ms. Jana. bouquet
