What is a friend?
What is a friend? Really, when you look deep inside itIs a friend worth your tears when they ignore your cries
You give them chance after chance to prove that they care
And they let you down and every time a little piece of you dies
You pour your heart out in hope for understanding for once
And they say all the right things, but then turn their back
Leaving you alone while you make believe it didn't just happen
And you make excuses for all the good traits and values they lack
Because you don't want to think that you would trust a person like that
That your judgment is so wrong that you have to revaluate who you are
Even though you didn't do anything wrong except confide in the wrong person
But you would walk the extra mile for them, no matter how far
Because you value friendship in a way where loyalty matters highly
And you would be there for them if they needed someone to hold onto
Never turning your back because you found someone better for the moment
You do this because its what you hope your friend in turn would do for you
The guilt of thinking you are reacting to harshly everytime they disappoint
Wondering why they think you deserve to listen for what they don't say
So what is friendship? As the tears turn to disgust you ask yourself this question
And you take a good look at what you have, and for once you walk away
