thank for the memories leslie couchran

most of you all do not /did not know of him,but he was a great human being,activist,urban out doors man,and most of all a cross dresser that ran for city of austin mayor,and damn near won while wearing a 1970 airline stewardest style dress.

the first time i ran into leslie ,was down town 6st.he was wearing a leopard print hot pink thong,high heels and a blue feathery boa.my friends and i had to talk with him.people from every bar were rushing to hand him free drinks and we started chatting with him.to some this may seem weird,but that is austin tx motto 'keep austin weird'.i started to notice that every bar he went in too,the place would get over crowded.we chatted with him,and the whole time in the middle of 6st,people from out of town would hand him 5dollars and take a picture with him/or of him.found out he was homeless,cause he truly wanted to be,was a great prankster ,once i was talking to him while he was changing a suits car tire,'in a cheerleaders uniform ofcourse' cars would pull up and slow down then speed up as soon as they found out she was a he.found out he had all sorts of ways of making money.peddling a three wheel bike with advertising for whom ever paid him,he was a great guy,so it sadden austin when he was attacked one nite ,and the city of austin sent donations for his brain injury back in 2009.last week,march 8th ,he pasted away from a stroke due to the injury of 2009.this years sxsw is not the same without him and niether is 6st.
