I am a cartoonist, i draw japanese anime, manga, i do portraites and and have started doing comics and landscapes, i sometims draw for a few magazines. Just the other day i had someone come up to me telling me that cartoonists arent artists and all the stuff they draw is a load of rubbish... Is this because the person who said that has no imagination and is ignorant? Or are they right? If i post a few of my drawings on here for you to see like portraites and the anime and some of my comics will you guys let me know whether or not it is rubbish or if it is good?
I just would like someone else's views on art. thanx guys:)

I am an artist in many ways... in fact we all are, with the things and talents we can do and create with in a given day, from communication to construction to music to driving; etc. & etc. & etc.
(I believe you get the idea)
Yes, it's possible that this person that came up to you doesn't have imagination and is ignorant, or illiterate in all their senses. Art is not just a thing... it is a feeling and an emotion too. If they don't like or love their self, then they won't see what Art or Love is.
Then again, as life is... Beauty, Love, Attraction, and especially ART is in the 'eye-of-the-beholder' and none of us can convince them otherwise. Also, alot of perception is involved in these areas, once again, especially ART. You will have to remember that you can't please everybody all the time, every time. It also depends on where they are in their life too. People can be insensitive without knowing it depending on where they are.
*We will always have our critics.
Chris... I'd love to see your works! Whether you post them on here or not; or E-mail them to me/us... it don't matter to me how you display your work or send it. Stay with it. One last important note to you...
Remember why you do your Art to begin with!! You have a talent and love for it - so do what pleases You and makes You Happy with your artwork - not with what others think!!! Or else you are doing what they want and not what you want. If you did totally what they would say or want, you might as well be a marionette.
From one artist to another...
