wexlady41: Completely agree about quoting from recognised sources.

Some of the sites I had a look at gave book/document references. Unfortunately I went into quite a few sites and can't remember exactly which sites had the best.

Fairydream appeared to be quoting Sinead O Connor's song as a historical statement (probably because she is Irish)..which it isn't. It's simply a song.

I'd trust the Sun newspaper more than I'd trust Sinead O'Connorlaugh

hallo

The song from Sioned O`Connor is taken for the start of my daughters project. As a line to start the argument.... conversing

As even her teacher was quiet surprised about that what my daughter had to say . . doh

And now she needs to proof her point

fairydream: Ok then. Have you got another Idea? The song is taken as my daughter sees it as the start of the discussion.

And the song is just a form of headline . Like in newspapers to get people interested and talking.........

Wright or wrong that needs to be discussed in her class then.

To be honest I don't have any idea as I don't know what way she wants to approach the project or if she is writing a critique or reflection or whatever. What I will say is that the song is a bitter rant and not to be taken too literally but there is plenty of other songs and tales about the famine that she could use as a debate starter.

As Wexlady said, she ought to google the subject and take from that whatever she feels will be useful or relevant but by and large the core issues involved in the Famine will not be unique to the Irish tale insofar that they have happened elsewhere worldwide over the years in various shapes or forms.

(Really bad joke warning)

Satire, rant; Potato Poe-Tato. Or in this case, bad potato, bad poe-tato.

not a big fan of sinead , but she has done her research , and it is reflected in the song..... Remember some of our history books have left out a lot of stuff ...

An example is "women" you would swear there was very few active women then cept countess marchivitz (cant spell it) n only cause she took up a gun , and a small few others .... so with that in mind , i think our history could be rewritten .....grin

Well Nitak I read a book called 'Paddy's Lament' written by Thomas Gallagher an American researcher and I'll tell you some of it is very harrowing, I dont want to go in to on a forum but we were treated very poorly.

fairydream: Hallo

Could you tell me a bit more about the famine roads or tell me where I will find some information about that . As neither my daughter or I have come in our research across that.

Thanks
