I can see some woman getting a bouquet of different colored roses and telling the suitor. Hey wait a minute I need to look up what you are trying to tell me through the roses.
red There’s nothing secret about the red rose’s symbolism of love. Valentine’s Day would hardly exist without this bold and dramatic bloom. The ultimate symbol of romantic love and enduring passion, the red rose also conveys respect and the creative spirit of love. Representing true love stronger than thorns, the red rose is known universally as the lover’s rose. Shop for bouquets containing red roses
white Representing, purity and innocence, the white rose - often referred to as the bridal rose - is associated with young love. In Scotland, when the white rose bloomed in autumn, it was seen as a token of early marriage. Also symbolizing truth and reverence, it sends a message of loyalty and says "I am worthy of you."
yellow it represents friendship, joy and caring. A bouquet of these sun-filled blossoms conveys warmth, gladness and affection.
pink Symbolizing gentility, femininity, elegance and refinement, the pink rose also carries additional meanings depending on its hue. A deep pink conveys gratitude and appreciation, while pale shades connote grace and gentleness, admiration and happiness.
orange With their warm, vibrant tones, orange roses symbolize enthusiasm and desire. If you’re looking for a way to express admiration and attraction - with an underlying message of passion and excitement
lilac & purple Thought to be almost mystical in nature, with symbolism tied to enchantment, desire and even proceeding cautiously, it’s not surprising that lilac and purple roses send a message of love at first sight
hopefloats: Cool. I've never seen a rose in some of these colors. Hey Sassy! Hope you are doing well today sis.
Hi Merky, I am hangin' in there sis. Another beautiful day here so have been in and out. I am a flower lover so kind of interesting to read these things. Have a great day.
When do you and Slim meet? Another match made on CS Wishing both of you many happy years together.
druidess6308: These aren't the normal meanings I've seen associated with these colors of roses...neat to see different meanings.
Morning, Sassy!
Afternoon Dru, I have heard different meanings associated with these colors also. How are you and Buzzy coming along with the finally getting to meet stage? I just told Merky how great it is to see these fantastic matches made on CS Makes it all seem worth the time spent.
Big_John: I purchased a house in California a few years back and it had a black rose bush in the yard. The color is blueish, but pretty dark with some black.
I'll believe those when I see one.
BTW some of you have it wrong... you only give or get yellow roses if you're dating a Texan.
Black Rose--- Never ever give a woman a black rose, because Hollywood has, unfortunately, made out the meaning to be "death". These are not easy to find and some say they really do not exist.
