pretzelman: therein lies your problem...you want a "rebuttal" from everyone. So you can continue your "superior attitude"

Ooby is my friend and I respect his opinions and I felt this thread to be significant. What have you contributed thus far? You hijacked the thread at one point as an argument over whether or not "Catholics are true Christians." Even another Catholic jumped on (beachbum) in defense.

In response to: BTW, in that area there was not a single daycare center that wasn't run by a church.

ooby_dooby: Don't these two statements conflict with each other?
In a way you've made my case.
The area I was referring to was Culpeper VA, we used to jokingly call it "The Land That Time Forgot" kind of a Mayberry RFD. Don't get me wrong, I love the place. I was merely voicing my opinion (as I stated) from what I observed while living there. From your description of the public schools your children attended I think you were wise to pull them out of there, I would have done the same thing. I would not have home schooled them only because I didn't have the time and I don't think I was qualified. More likely I would have put them in a better school even if it meant paying for it.
BTW, in that area there was not a single daycare center that wasn't run by a church.

First...I am nor surprised about the day care situation in that part of the country!!

Second, I felt is was and still do do, believe in teaching a sense of "faith in something". But I did not "brain wash" nor attempt to "indoctrinate" any way of thinking. I told them as young children, what my beliefs were..but as they grew older, they were able to make decisions for themselves. One reason, I believe the home schooling was successful!

My goal was to give them a quality education, that wasn't available in public schools. Also the fact that I was military, meant that we moved often...I wanted them to have a continuum of studies that didn't get switched each time we moved.

I agree with you, Ooby. 100% with what you said in that post, I was just making it known that people "home school" for other reasons!handshake
