I'm not knocking President Obama....well I guess I am so I'll be honest about it....he gave Queen Elizabeth an IPOD as a gift??
Were is this man's thinking coming from?
I am so embarrassed that he would give such a trivial gift to the Queen of England.
Apparently he and Mrs. Obama didn't have Etiquette 101 training when meeting royalty. The Queen almost jumped out of her knickers when Mrs. Obama put her hand on the Queen's back.
No touch the Queen
Would it bother you if your queen or king or president gave a trivial gift to a person of royalty?
Perhaps the President doesn't want the White House to appear to be royal as it was in the days of Jackie and John Kennedy or Nancy and Ronald Regan. If so, then why are they trying to dress Michelle in the same way that Jackie dressed?
Maybe I didn't have enough sleep last night and I'm just cranky but when I saw this on the news this morning I was saying
I thought it was rather ingenious as he had them download specific music picked for her. However, the news also reported she already has one! Bummer on that.
I agree that they seem to have not gotten good protocol training...or have ignored it.
If we're lucky, the Obamas don't so insult the leaders of every other country that none are speaking to us when we finally get to elect a new leader in 4 years.

The president brought Queen Elizabeth II a special iPod pre-loaded with Broadway Show tunes and video footage of the queen's visit to the U.S. in 2007, New York's Daily News Reports.
The queen also received a songbook signed by Richard Rodgers the composer of "The King and I", says the Daily News.
In exchange Queen Elizabeth gave the Obamas a framed photo of herself and her husband Prince Philip.
I think his gift appears far better than her to him. JMHO....

My Word!!! ..."Etiquette 101 training"... is the answer. First, the next time someone has a chance hold up a sign with the words, "Political Etiquette Class" on it. Next, the Obamas might send their children to an etiquette school. Then, when the kids, get home, they will tell mom & dad what they learned. Finally, the family's next meeting with the Q. could go smoother.
If you're President Obama - and the queen in question is Elizabeth II of England - you get her a generously loaded iPod that includes video footage of her 2007 visit to the U.S. and songs made popular on Broadway.
That's what Obama bestowed on Her Royal Highness Wednesday, along with a rare songbook signed by "The King and I" composer Richard Rodgers, of Rodgers and Hammerstein fame.
Queen Elizabeth, in turn, gave the Obamas a silver-framed photo of herself and her husband, Prince Phillip, which is apparently the standard-issue gift at Buckingham Palace for visiting dignitaries.
Her Majesty's Royal iPod gift was stocked with 40 tunes from popular Broadway productions, including West Side Story, My Fair Lady and South Pacific.
The playlist also features "Oklahoma!" Carol Channing's rendition of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," "Memory" from Cats and "Shall We Dance?" featured in The King and I.
The new iPod from the Obamas is also very likely loaded with the most remembered moment of the Queen's 2007 visit to Virginia - when President George W. Bush stumbled over a line and suggested that she helped celebrate America's bicentennial in 1776, not 1976.
After some giggling by the crowd, and stern look from Her Majesty, Bush joked, "She gave me a look that only a mother could give a child."

Lighten Up...The Queen is an over-rated prude anyway. an iPod is ideal gift for an up-tight codgidy old crony
