jlb684: I've been thinking about coming up with a different username (I chose jlb684 for MY purposes, just to access the site initially; I never knew then about Forums and such, so I didn't have any thought about choosing a name that others would recall). So....
maybe I'll use your descriptive words, Dana: Voiceofdamnreason

Cheers!

rolling on the floor laughing Glad to be of help, Jeffrey!

I know what you mean about the user name. I got on this site because my daughter nagged me to. I didn't even expect to stay! I've often thought of changing mine.

jlb684: I agree with the others here who have mentioned that an Ignore Poster feature might make some threads a bit confusing. Reading a thread might be a bit like this:

OP: How do you feel about gay marriages?

Poster 1: I think they should be afforded the same rights as anyone else in our society.

Poster 2: Ignored

Poster 1: You CAN'T be serious!! That's nonsense, and you know it. What facts do you have to back that up?

Poster 2: Ignored

Poster 1: But then he reversed his opinion, didn't he?

Poster 2: Ignored

Poster 1: And YOU'VE never felt compelled to say the same thing?

etc.

I think the best thing to do is, once having walked into a room that is unpleasant or is poplulated with a few unsavory characters, it's probably best to just step back outside and quietly shut the door. (I am not always successful at this, but I do so more often than not).

Hi you.

It would certainly not help a debate that was ongoing at all.

...but I understand the conceptual notion.

jlb

As I said, it is offered on another forum, but it is never used.

Yes, the conceptual side of it, is something that I understand, I actually got the idea for the thread from the other place having it.

Your post above is spot on, I for one prefer debates, than polls and the like, but I get from the other place, so I am happy.

Nice to see you lovely. You know, I was reading some old threads of mine, back from Jan 2008, when I began posting and there you were, welcoming me.

Not sure, why I am telling you that, but I am.

But see, on the other forum, the only person who couldn't view the particular poster blocked was the person who blocked him/her. I just think that if you're being harrassed by someone, but want to post to an interesting thread, it'd be a nice feature to have. dunno
