Karma3: I'm for real alright. Indian society is still very much into living in joint families so we do not have the luxury of having our mothers-in-law 'leave' or 'stop' their whining. We gotta grin and bear it, then give our husbands hell in the bedroom.

Dmire: In your view, would it help if the couple moves away from the mother in law vicinity and start their live somewhere else?
In our experience that is EXACTLY what we did moved states..it was our life not hers...i am not mother-in-law bashing however, this one was from another planet!! Sad the marriage did not last though...it was not really a joke as i portrayed before...i just have a great sense of humour in our behaviour as human beings. I hope it works out for You one way or the other whatever You decide with Your husband.
From what I have seen and listened to. It seems there are more problems with the meddling mother in law if it is their son, not so much their daughters as daughters usually stand by their Mum and are closer.
There is a saying.
A Daughter is a Daughter for the rest of your life.
