Interesting analogy but good point
I find email much easier sometimes especially when you are talking to a few friends at once or looking up something online. When you're on IM, you have to devote all your attention to one person.

I couldnt understand why people i have had NO contact with what so ever were in my contact box
Found out that they were trying to IM me although i have it in my profile that it is TURNED OFF
So my opinion is that they dont read profiles..
Not just foreigners either,had one from Cork tonight!!

They could be copy and pasters, send many emails!
