Big_John: We all know the right music creates the mood! Think back to the music playing in your head right now when you met someone and a song was playing. Does a certain song make you want to get up and dance? Do you have soft music playing in your bedroom when something romantic is going on?
If I hear Bob Seger, I might want to dance.
There ain't nuttin going on in my bedroom but the hum of a fan whether it's winter or summer. It creates white noise which blocks out the bad noice outside. The humming sound helps me sleep.

When I hear sirens, it reminds me of when the ambulance came to get my grandpa & I sometimes break down in tears.
There are a few songs that remind me of spending my summers in Southern Mississippi in the 70s... Love Is Alive by Gary Wright, I'm Not In Love by 10cc, More, More, More by (I'm not sure & my computer's on the fritz right now). Also Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
USThumper: The helicopter rotors do bring back the jungle, and smoke, and the sounds. I dont think I will ever forget them.
Hi Thumper....I was watching a program last night about Vietnam and the men who were interviewed said they will never forget many things from that time. When I watch these programs the helicopter give the impression they are just hanging there in space with the rotors making that thumping sound.
I didn't know that you are a veteran Thumper. I want to thank you for your service to our country. I am embarrassed to say that I didn't pay attention to the news of what was going on with Vitenam at the time. I am NOT one of those who spit on our veterans when they came home.

Ambulances do have a way of making us sit up and pay attention to the world around us. By the way, glad to hear that you have a fella again. Much happiness to you

Snuggs09: Is there a certain sound that reminds you of a pleasant or unpleasant time of the past.
For example, when I hear the sound of helicopter rotors I think of Vietnam.
When I hear an ambulance siren or fire truck horn I think of Sept. 11th.
When I hear the song "Who Loves You Pretty Baby" by Frankie Valli, I think of the last man I loved.
You can joke around with this if you want or be serious.
What I hope to gain from this thread is to find out if people are effected by certain sounds as much as I am.
Hi Snuggs! When I paint I have to have my music playing, I usually select the music according to the type of paintings I am doing. It does have an effect on the final outcome.

Thanks Snuggs! We're very happy right now. Time will tell!

Thank you. I was just doing what needed to be done. It is a beautiful country and Id like to go back to see it without the fighting, but I cant see ie ever happening.

Hi Taino....I can definitely understand how the music would effect the final painting.
Let me ask you....suppose you put on some rockin music, sat down at the easel and realized you were in a downer. Would you change the music to fit your mood even though you were already settled with the paints?

Thumper, I never tell people what to do and I'm even careful making suggestions but since I do watch a lot of programs about Vietnam, I can imagine how beautiful the country was. The mountains are huge, and the valleys are low. I hope you give it serious thought to going back to Vietnam someday. You deserve it!!!

Well Snuggs I don't like to go near paints when I'm down, would not want to mess up a good painting. The music would definitely be toned down to suit though, I'd want to get out of the funky mood first, then go back to painting.
I live on a golf course, about midway down the fairway. I sit on my patio with an electronic megaphone, and just as the golfers complete their back swing, I yell "FOUR"...
