True. I'd say Sir Alex was getting fed up with answering questions about Ronaldo's future every summer. Better to just take the money and get someone else in. Ronaldo is a brilliant player but if he is not fully committed to the club then I think £80m is a great price for him. I'm glad we didn't get stiffed by Real Madrid again like we did over the transfer of Van Nistelrooy. A few weeks earlier, Shevchenko moves to Chelsea from Milan for £30m and then United only get £10 for Van Nistelrooy even though they have a similar scoring ratio and are the same age.
Its funny how very few players seem to be as succesful after they leave United than when they were with United.
