Do we give too much away about ourselves on the forums (71)
we might give little tit bits of info on our personal life away but its nothing to get worried about, its not like we r giving out our credit card number or address
however those little tit bits can be used against us by disgruntled csers

just curiousity on my part... i for one have given away far too much and will no longer do so... its sad that the info is used against you but it seems to me that its the way CS is going in the last few months...

yes BB I think your right, i am surprised sometimes at the amount of personel information that is given out, i am also concerned when i c pictures of children on peoples profile...I know that sometimes we forget there are 100's of other people reading the forum's, and dont post, after some of the crap thats been on here i would be very wary of them having 2 much information

I have no idea who that person is today, some people seem to have an idea who they are. But you are right !! whoever they are, has/have a lot of info on people on here..... I am only getting comfy using the forums now..... now i am not so sure

This is exactly how I feel too. I have become very suspicious of everyone and am even wary of replying to mail unless I know the person. It's not a nice way to feel. I too have stuck to the word games and Ears because of all the ridiculous behaviour. It is sad but it's a fact I only trust a couple of people here.

I totally agree with you on this. I am constantly stunned
at how much private stuff people put up on the forums! Anyone can view the forums, even if they are not members.I am very private by nature. I never put up any part of my everyday life up for all to see. That is just me, and my choice! I don't mind contributing with funny/strange stories in the past that have happened me, but I would never name anyone on line.
Also I find some of the threads quite tedious, I don't need to know who just had a "poo" every day etc
but again that is the persons choice to post what they like, my choice is not to read it or answer it if it does not interest me. BB your thread interests me and I totally agree with you....

i think everyone has a different opinons and views and no matter what the threads are..some people will like them and some will not...if you like it-get involved,if you dont-go start your own or dont reply on it...
its a site to meet and chat,and even the most simple things can start a good chat between people on the forums..hence there purpose..
as for giving away too much..i think after the events today,il deffo be more careful about what i say about myself,as the person today knew alot of stuff about people,and was almost like they had met everyone..but who knows..

Going back to what SDB posted, herself and I have discussed this before (off site) and we would both be broadly in agreement that people sometimes are far too open on her about personal goings on in general.
While the beauty of a site like this is that people can reach out and make new friends and contacts under a degree of anonymity, we need to be careful in what else we expose on site like this and to whom we make it privy to. Like where exactly we work, what our kids names and schools are, where we are off to for a pint or a meal tomorrow, who we are dating etc. Certainly, it is done with the very best of intentions in the main but it does leave us exposed at times. Literally anybody can be reading the site at any one time and personally speaking, there are times when I look at what some people post here and cringe at how much they tell about themselves (And on occasion, others) to site users who are in effect absolute strangers. Think of it like this, we'd not post up our phone numbers, addresses or bank details. There are other personal details that we should all try and be a little more careful about who we tell it to, that's all I'd say.

I can understand your sentiments.
To be honest, I'm feeling very disillusioned with the place.
Like honestly, wondering who's the wolf in sheeps clothing.
But like, it was no-ones intimidation or encouragement that brought out MM's rage, she/he/it is just an absolute looper.
What galls me is that it could be a double profile, someone I trust and talk to on here.
Although I don't think you can disguise that kinda stupid.
