The reason I can think of about why some people lie in their profile is because they don't want people to really know them for fear of being rejected for being who they really are... They roleplay someone else to see if they will be accepted in that role... Others who lie in their profile are just players
...Of course I cannot tell if someone is lying in their profile till I meet them in person and find out their fakes

I never lie in my profile, even when I'm tempted (or have been advised)to "modify" some aspect of it. It just doesn't sit well with me. So, I lay it out - I'm dark skinned, going on 50, blah blah, so what?
