No matter who or what he was, he did influence our lives through his art. I have to ask the question; what value on a life, three more Canadian soldiers died this week in Afghanistan, not to mention all the American young men and women who have died in the Iraq conflict....is there a grand tribute to them ? No. I ask why not ? Michael Jackson sang and died....our troops sang and died as well, but they are quickly forgotten.

Paws, good evening to you. What value on a life? His is a media frenzy. There is no value on a human life, we are but nothing, even those that fight a war and lose their lives. I am sure that MJ'S children have been primed for this, we can never be primed to talk about our soldiers lost in a war that really, has no means to an end...

I Agree 100%, for example when these other celebrities died the media did not talk about them as much
but when michael died it was all over the place. but what about the troops? the 9-11 victoms? the katrina victoms?

Not being a media fan, then I would not want those lost in such atrocities remembered by CNN and Fox. We just do it quietly here. And with a smile.

Unfortunatly, Michael J., generated money and will continue to do so for years to come. Odd how we place one's life above another's.

Michael Jackson had a God given talent and we haft to give him that, just like most genious minds they are great in one area and slip back and fourth in other area's . But I wonder if we are not a lot to blame though, The man could never have a real life without someone sticking a camera in his face trying to find somthing wierd to report then when they did find somthing they made it much bigger and worse than what it realy was . Whater Michael jackson did is in the hands of God .

He was well known, his death was noteworthy and sad. We have noted it and been sad for a moment. That's the appropriate level of engagement. Now we should move on and worry about the living and other deserving causes.

Lets face facts kids, MJ talents more recently for ending up in the news for all the wrong reasons, not to mention he was a bit mad if not all the way mad.The media freenzy is simptomatic of having nothing else to report on in the news, if a war or summit, was to kick off somwhere important u would soon see old wacko pusehed to the back page, I feel an Elvis type idolic worship thing coming on, how long before the theme park opens??..

I agree with the comments about soldiers, but plenty of good people kick it every day in everything from cancer to monorail accidents that nobody ever hears about.

Of course the troops matter. It's like that time Mother Theresa died the same week as Diana Spencer. But it's like comparing apples and oranges too. I wish all the troops would get out of there. I think that would be best.

What exactly does Michael Jackson have to do with soldiers not being honoured? Everyday people die, pass away with barely a mention - people who do good things in their life that benefits others. Who sent those soldiers out there to die? Yes they are dying for their country and I am sure they understand the risks that come with this job. And the Government that sends them also know that in battle their are going to be casualties but they send them anyway. On the other hand the media enjoys a circus, so soldiers dying versus showman, 'whacko', 'childmolester' celebrity is gonna be bigger, because its fun to build you up and then watch you drop. Because its more fun to watch a train wreck of someones life than it is to watch news about more soldiers dying. But that is the nature of the beast that your media have created. Yes the soldier's should be honoured - all of them, so too should Michael but for very different reasons, but as those with eyes to see will notice Fame can kill as surely as a bullet taken in battle.

I think if he were still here he would be getting ready to honor and communicate with all sorts of people who have made sacrifices for others. He did put effort into compassionate activities and involvement in government change (demonstrations) as a young man. He was a little confused and tormented but evidenced love for others.

He had a lot more work to do and I have no doubt he would have done more great things....but you know what...God took him to save him more heartache from the begrudgers and ones that love to turn love into hate....sad flower

found this on another place I visit and it rings true.

"It's a damn shame Michael Jackson gets the glory in death while true
heroes are ignored.

Ed Freeman

You're a 19 year old kid. You're critically wounded, and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley , 11-14-1965, LZ X-ray, Vietnam . Your infantry unit is out numbered 8-1, and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns, and you know you're not getting out. Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away and you'll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.

Then, over the machine gun noise, you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter, and you look up to see an un-armed Huey, but it doesn't seem real, because no Medi-Vac markings are on it.

Ed Freeman is coming for you. He's not Medi-Vac, so it's not his job,but he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire, after the Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.

He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in, and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 2 or 3 of you on board.

Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire, to the doctors and nurses.

And, he kept coming back, 13 more times and took about 30 of you and your buddies out, who would never have gotten out.

Medal of Honor Recipient, Ed Freeman, died on Wednesday, JUNE 15th, 2009 at the age of 80, in Boise, ID. May God rest his soul.

Medal of Honor Winner
Ed Freeman!
Since the Media didn't give him the coverage he deserves send this to every red blooded American you know.
THANKS AGAIN ED FOR WHAT YOU DID FOR OUR COUNTRY.
RIP"
