I don't believe I could fall in love with someone I haven't met. I know how important that first face-to-face meeting is and how it can influence your opinioin and feeling toward someone.
I have fallen in 'like' and in 'lust' with some, but not in love without meeting them.
outofnothing: I know this is quite personal but its a quite simple question really...answers on the back of a postcard please Discuss...
Soon.........once virtual reality gets really good and you can 'cop a feel' of your intended......in fact soon we won't meet at all but just send messages telepathically from one bubbling storage jar to another!

that's what I meant, just taking the phrasing lightly
I'm in like-lust with an idea of an enigma-go figure

The problem we have when internet dating is that we can very easily create an image of the other person that in reality is nothing like them, I had a great internet liaison, we really hit it off, emails flashing back and forth, phone calls etc, I though “She’s the one” and she felt the same, we met and all seemed fine, until our second meeting when cracks appeared, the false image I had created was now showing through, sadly we decided that we would just remain friends. So for me I think you can find great affection and attraction via the web, but the proof is only there once you have met and really had a chance to find out about each other in real life situations.

Sorry it didn't work out for you......... no cracks appeared in any relationship I've had with women I've met via the internet (well, not unless you're thinking dirty)....they were all exactly the same personality as I believed them to be........ plus the chemistry was there as a huge and very welcome bonus.
I think it is extremely possible to fall in love with someone you have not met face to face just yet. I see it happen all the time...ah duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh we are on a dating website where people aren't always a 5 min. car ride away. Wait not to mention the success stories. At one point and time these people didn't immediately meet face to face! You can gt to know someone via email, that wonderful device call a phone, send texts, some people even use use webcams! Mind boggling!

Yes, it is. I did it here once. I won't do it again, though...I'll save my heart until I actually meet a person. But I have good friends from here I haven't met yet.
