Big_John: The fishing has been kind of slow for a week or two. We have had violent thunderstorms for quite a while. When the water gets messed up from the storms, the fishing isn't good. The early spring and summer fishing was fantastic. However, I don't do much 'deep sea' fishing. I don't enjoy catching the big game fish. I like going after the trout that weight is under 4 lbs.
Oh Yea , I Love to Catch the Trout too, I also Lived in New Orleans, off and on For 20 Yrs..... Ha, I have fished all that area down there, Tho Have a Friend who wants do do the Deep sea Thing, at least once..... I used to Go Trawling, Crabbing , Fishing, Aligator Hunting... I worked Several Years in the Shipyard in Harahan, La. Nice you have some visitors Coming, Make sure to show them The Tulaloues, Ha!

I love fishing in the Gulf! Nothing like it! I once caught a 7 lb flounder & entered it in the fishing rodeo. It was in second place for a while, then I got knocked out. But it was good eating!!
We had friends down there who were shrimpers. Got fresh shrimp right off the boat!! And crab too!!

Larry isn't what it used to be. Here is a short story from the news:
That Fat City -- once a popular and busy commercial district of Metairie -- has deteriorated to broken streets, convenience stores drawing loiterers and lounges attracting a criminal element is a major reason Jefferson Parish District 5 Councilwoman Jennifer Sneed said she is leading the charge to revitalize it.

I wanted to volunteer, but my boss said I was needed at work & he couldn't let me go. My father was there through Katrina. We moved him up here afterward. He'd planned on living out his life & being buried down there, until Katrina hit. When I go down, I need to go by his house & see if it's even still there & what condition it's in, if it is.

Ok John Thanks for Posting That, I havnt been there since the Disaster, I guess it isnt recovering well...... sound like a Place to stay away from, by that Letter.....
Tho Now i Know something i didnt know!!
I havnt had any desire to visit down there since i saw it in Shambles..... Takes time to recover from Disaster,
Mentally too! You All Have Great Fun, I know you will
The central part of New Orleans with the tourist 'stuff' was never damaged by Katrina. The out lying neighborhoods are the ones in bad shape. The 9 Ward is still a disaster!
