Shrug it off, another one down, maybe a few hundred to go for. It happens to everyone at times, if not on a phone, then in RL.
What can you do, install a voice analyzer which may tell you they are lying or being deceptive. Don't bother, they are not all that accurate. At best you have saved air fare or gas money from a long drive for nothing. Every dark cloud does have a silver linning; just takes time to find it. Never give up, well, at least not entirely...

You have nothing to be ashamed of. You are also not an idiot. At some point we all find ourselves taken in by someone only to be pushed to the side. All you can do is learn from what happened in order to protect yourself from future icidents.
Being the person I am it is hard for me to get caught up in the moment anymore. You have to know that you are the best you can be while they are at their worst and yes, they will strike someone else. One day not even their charm will be enough to draw people in and by then you will be living happy with a true love.

we all can be taken in, just be glad you found out early, he could have led you on for months and then pulled it, you would have wasted time that may produce the right one

Awwwww...i think is their problem...it has happen twice to me...1st one...we talked everyday on the msn sometimes by phone...then i found out he blocked me on the msn...and the 2nd one well that was worse because actually i met him and we spent like 4 days together (it was such a good time!) after i came back home he was still good and nice, suddenly he just wont answer my messages and he blocked me too, his answer: I'm too busy and work is my priority number one...argggggg im too angry!!!! why spend someones time when u know u don't want a relationship!!!
But let's not loose our hopes ...there IS someone for us...someone who will worth calling or travelling...
