Ok this is a first for me.

Her is the story. I'm hoping you guys can help me out.

Amber had a friends show up at 9pm tonight. She stayed here a couple of nights a few weeks ago, because her Mum kicked her out.

I spoke to her briefly and asked what was going on.

She said she doesn't get on with her step dad, and he has tried to kiss her...........

I said;

If that is true what you are saying it is wrong ( I don't think i was that polite though).

I said if it isn't true, you are tagging someone with a horrible accusation, so you need to think about what you are saying.

She seemed to clam up after that. I know there is something wrong, whether it is her lying, or a cry for help and she is scared I have no idea.

In the meantime I have listened to her and suspected she as sleeping on the streets.

Its just been confirmed she is, at the back of Bi-Lo the supermarket.

My question is now, who do I contact to help this girl out?

I will go and get her shortly and bring her back here. And I want to contact her mother and find out what is going on exactly. I know she needs help, but its who to contact first................bloody hell.

Docs the police, nobody for now.

She is only 15 years old. I have to bring her back here. I won't sleep tonight knowing she is sleeping where she is.

SXC,

from a person who was kicked out of home at 16.

Please go and get her, just ask that she contact her mum and tell her mum she is safe. Please dont make her tell her mum where she is.

It'll just make her feel a bit safer and feel that she has some control, if she doesnt have to face whatever it is that shes running from. Who knows if the accusations are true. But at this point the kid isnt safe until she's at your place or someone elses.

You're a great lady and this kindness could make all the difference in this girls life.

I would assume if you contacted police, they let the family know she is ok and then if she was to inform them on the step father, then they can investigate it and take appropriate action. They wouldn't be likely to place her back into the family home if there is an allegation there. They will put her in safe hands and suss it all out.

If you get her tonight, you should atleast call the Access Line in the morning and they can guide you in the right direction.

She is very lucky to have you looking out for her. teddybear

I'd ring her mum 1st...get your instincts about how she reacts and go from there...OR call an info line of some sort and get some advise as where to go from there...dunno that's what i'd do....i'd also keep tabs on it...coz the mother could cover things up....GO WITH YOUR INSTINCTS...I KNOW YOU'VE GOT IT!...

Shell225: You did the right thing, which was to think of the childs personal safety first, and worry about the wheres and whys second. As a mum, I hope that if my daughter is ever in trouble, her friends have a mum like you.

She certainly sounds mixed up, and its dreadfully sad, for the girl and her family. Your a great mum Sxc

I second this , The childs /young persons safety is the priority
Well done tina hug

Ebony8Ivory: I don't know how Qld. works, however, in NSW, if you call the police they will immediately inform DoCS and/or 'The Street Team' (who are DoCS) and they will find crises accommadation fro her. In the meantime, her case will be investigated before she is released into the custody of her parent/s, unless it is discovered that she is telling the truth. Either way, the services will assing her to a case worker who will monitor her and look after her basic needs which include financial assistance, housing, clothes and food.

If you're interested, email me and I will give you my personal contact details, however, the only information I can give is NSW based). Tomorrow I could discuss this with our Youth Worker (with your approval) and find out what options are available.

In case you're wondering - my field is "Youth at Risk" and I work with 'these' kids every day.

Good luck, I'm here if you need me.

Cheers
Ebony
