Well, at least we won't have to worry about killer bees now... The end of one problem and the beginning of another... There has always been imbalances and weird happenings with our environment but yes, maybe the crops chemicals are to blame, who really knows for sure? Maybe it's mother nature's way of warning us that if we become too much of a nuisance ( like the killer bees ) that we too could just disappear from the face of this planet as abruptly as the bees... Another one to put in the X-files annals...
Maybe the bees are our budgie in a coal mine??....if we don't have bees, we will have massive crop failure...perhaps the extermination of the bees will usher in the third horseman of the Apocalypse...Famine..

Odysseus101: I agree....I think Homo Sapien has been a rather messy, failed experiment...If I had been the scientist responsible, I would be deeply disappointed, and would probably flush the whole damn thing down the toilet, and start again....jmo.
I think so too What a mess of things we Man have done of this paradise planet. We've taken a wondrous place and turned it into a hell. ( I say 'we' but I do know that a lot of us have nothing to reproach ourselves, yet we could be just as guilty if only by our inaction against those who are ) Well... time will tell.

Maybe it's because of all of the genetically modified or genetically engineered crops that are being grown now that include pesticides and herbicides in them. Corn, soybeans, and tomatoes are the biggest sources of this, and I have to ask how a food can be healthy for us when it contains poisons that we can't wash off of it because they're part of the food itself. (The answer, btw, is that it isn't and it's causing problems with us as well.)
If you think that it's not important that bees are being killed in large enough numbers to be noticed in many parts of the world, think again. As Deepak Chopra once stated, "If all of the insects disappeared from the face of the planet, all other life would die. If humans disappeared from the face of the planet, all other life would flourish." If we kill off the insects like this, we kill ourselves as well. Food for thought (pun intended).

Why? We're doing quite a nice job of it ourselves.

My earlier comment on the bees was to be taken lightly, I wasn't insinuating that I didn't care whether the bees died or not. Of course it is something to pay attention to when a whole species of insect dies off, it should worry us all. Yes, I also think that you are right regarding the genetically engineered crops we are growing nowadays... We only test things for harm short range, even our 'medications', we shouldn't be surprised when our environment goes nuts ten, twenty or thirty years down the line, Man has always been a short-term thinking creature and that is our undoing.

GP, that comment wasn't directed at you for that, but for anyone reading it who might not think that this is a serious issue. I know you better than that, my friend.
A lot of things aren't even tested at all today. The FDA approves drugs now without any testing for safety and interactions, the warnings about these GM (or GE) foods are being ignored by the WHO and the FDA who continue to declare them safe for us and just as healthy as organically grown foods. I swear that they're out to kill us through our foods since both are also trying to make it harder for organic producers to grow and sell their produce.
Left alone, without Frankensteining our foods, we would have been able to feed the world organically by 2030. Now we might not live that long. Again, food for thought.

Yes, the genie is out of the (Genetic-manipulating)bottle and Pandora has opened 'her' box ( sorry, no pun intended no, really). You say:"I swear that they're out to kill us through our foods" and I say, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, call it a duck...
