As Ive mention b4 I have hepititisC the result of a blood transfusion I recieved in 1981,since this time I have been in hospital several times as a result of the infection tho they only diagnosed me 3 yrs ago.Whilst discussing my situation with friends and family the other night my sister commented that millions were put at risk from this anyone who had blood contact eg;dentistry, doctors, army.police, firebrigade etc..may have unknowingly been infected herself included but she says she would rather not know ..what are your thought on this would you rather know?

personally, I feel like being in situations where you could have been exposed to the virus, I would like to know in order to protect the ones I love. Yet, I have not been tested....I did live a little in the seventies !!
I have a friend that has it. I was aware of it and it didn't make me feel or act any different towards her. I didn't see her disease as a hindrance or detour to our friendship. It's called accepting others for who they are.

ty HF... ...oyu support is appreciated but the question is would you rather live in ignorance to the disease or any disease for that matter or would you rather know?....

I could say I would want to know but they ck me for everything every six mos. I visit the doc every three mos and there is always blood work.

in Britain they dont test for hepc randomly..I have had numerous blood transfusions since the one in 1981 I got a hysterectomy aged 30 and wasnt tested then ..I was only tested for it 3 yrs ago when they had exhausted all other test throughout the years...

RDM59: I would rather know. To find out later on that I had been putting other people at risk would be terrible news.
I hope your course of treatment is going well and the side affects are as minimal as can be ......
my thoughts exactly ...even when they diagnosed me they didnt offer my daughters to be tested, they didnt even ask if I could have exposed any one else to the virus since 81 which through the unknowing an sheer ignorance I may weel have done ...scary thought that is but I cant change the past
I was alerted after I contracted the flesh eating disease, that I would from then on be tested for everything every six mos, and I would be seeing the doctor every six mos. I did not care, actually. I just said okay. They always give the the results of the std's in my hand, and tell me to always be careful... As if I wouldn't.
Donny and I have both been warned, and lectured about how sorry my immune system was. Although he already knew cuz I told him.
jeepers: yes I know. The threat is everywhere. Where I work we deal with all sorts of "stuff" like waste water treatment and such. Even shaking a persons hand, after they "forgot to wash there hands" so to speak, can be a little risky.
Shaking hands is not something I want to do these days. So many people have H1N1, colds, flu, bronchitis, etc. I have hand sanitizer on my desk at work. Another thing is that people stand too close when in a conversation. And what really drives me crazy is those who sneeze or cough and don't cover their mouth.
I'm starting to get a cold. Right now I'm just sniffling but if I get very sick I will stay home from work. I have used all of my sick and vacation days and won't get paid if I'm not at work but I think it would be irresponsible of me to go to work while I'm coughing and sneezing.

I have had a drug resistant staff infection and its not pretty but you stay away from people and know its part of life other wise we would be stuck in a box all our life.. Its life as we go its to show us i know the things we take for granted in life like going any where we want.. Its not a right it is a freedom and a blessing to know and enjoy when we can and not to walk by and say we have nothing but in fact we have life.. Hello Betty have not seen you latey..
