While I have not faced the experience you have betty, I've dealt with the fact of permanent disabling injuries I suffered about 29 years ago, and their threats to lifes abilities, limiting longevity. I can't imagine what you go throw with the personal contact thoughts, apprehensions, but with me I've always been truthful with people, so they don't get the urge to try and tackle me, or something. I also use my head when doing anything I've done all my life, just a little slower, and with a different approach. I do not know much about the affects of hepititisC, but willing to listen if you wanna talk about it, your anxieties. Having dealt with, and dealing with many, myself, I move on knowing it won't get the best of me.

No offense to your sis, but to maintain that they'd prefer to remain in ignorance is... well, ingnorant!! Think of the people around you that you love(or even the ones you don't know), to put them at risk is not a considerate thing to do. People can & have died from it.
It is certainly not a disease to be taken lightly!
On the other hand it's not a disease that requires one to live in a bubble to keep those around safe. I've lived with a gal that had it & never contracted it myself.
bettyboop63: As Ive mention b4 I have hepititisC the result of a blood transfusion I recieved in 1981,since this time I have been in hospital several times as a result of the infection tho they only diagnosed me 3 yrs ago.Whilst discussing my situation with friends and family the other night my sister commented that millions were put at risk from this anyone who had blood contact eg;dentistry, doctors, army.police, firebrigade etc..may have unknowingly been infected herself included but she says she would rather not know ..what are your thought on this would you rather know?
I would rather know. It could protect the life of a Future Mate.
hopefloats: I have a friend that has it. I was aware of it and it didn't make me feel or act any different towards her. I didn't see her disease as a hindrance or detour to our friendship. It's called accepting others for who they are.
bettyboop63: I have plenty to help me through it my family and friends and various support groups I attend Im expecting it to be a rough year for me Im just praying I will be able to endure the 48 weeks ahead ..
You will be in my prayers. If you need anything email me. I am not always able to get online but when I have time and I am on campus I will reply as soon as I can.
bettyboop63: if I didnt feel discriminated b4 I certainly do now most people who have read my thread didnt even think it worthy of a reply

You have done a great thing here to highlight this condition whom many are effected, and share your own experiences with it and if you are of the same spirit and character as my sister-in-law then you will live life to the full with whatever your ailments are upon us, as she has various things from being diabetic/asthmer etc and she never lets it rule her enjoyment in life and she just gets on with it, so you will be okay if you have the same frame of mind that I believe you do plus you are made of great Glaswegian Spirit.. Vodka included..LOL...OLOLOL...HIC!..hic!..ZZZZZzzzzzzzzz!! Slainte'.
PeeEss... You have a new Glaswegien buddy to lend an ear when you need it, and I will supply a wee hot flask of Scotch Broth and plastic cups to match.

I'm sure you are absolutely right. Whoever was infected should also be compensated for that.
I'm so sorry this happened to you. It could have happened to any of us. I guess I was just lucky that I have never needed a tranfusion..
