About 4 years old in 1941 - Seeing dog fights between Huricanes, Spitfires and Messerschmitts over Patcham where we lived then.

Our guys, after a low level hit, let a German jockey glide his badly damaged Messerschmitt (wheels up and a dead engine) on Patcham Primary School playing field, just before I started school there.

He must have been a damn good jockey not to have climbed up and baled out, as I discovered later. They used to glide like a house brick, but watching them and the fact I had three serving Uncles in the RAF as Aircrew influenced me to go in later on. laugh

I remember being pushed in my pram with trees overhead. This is absolutely true and I even drew a picture of it for my mother when I was abit older, The next memory was my father comforting me during a Thunder storm age just under 2 yrs. He held my hand and gave me a lollipop and there were zoo animals on the curtains in my room all confirmed by my parents wave

Earliest memory for me was lying in my pram at the side of the old house that we had at the time, just near the back door - a big Silver Cross job, it was ( the pram, not the house..), and I distinctly remember looking at the lilac tree in front of me. Can still see it now.

Age ? no idea , but has to be somewhere around 1 - 2 .. apparently I was quick to learn to walk / toddle so what age would that be ? I have no idea ... !!
