robpacciani: AND may i also state that pat kenny took a 33% deduction in his annual wage.. he used to earn 900,000 , now he earns 600,000...

And you didnt hear anyone complaining when he was earning 900,000 because the times were good and everone had money and safe jobs its when that all came to an end people turned their attention to the likes of path kenny and gery rayn etc..

pat kenny like the rest of the overpaid at rte were not just offered money these were negotiated so to say it's not his fault is untrue both himself and rte are equally culpable, the level of hypocrisy that comes out of rte presenters is stomach churning, there wages are paid by the license holder many of whom through no fault of there own have no jobs and then they have to listen to overpaid dickheads saying the few euro their getting should be cut

Rob do you think he was just walking down the street one day picking his nose and RTE came and offered him a job? Thats the career path he went down. Fair play to him tho for getting where he is but he's just an over paid monkey!

robpacciani: i never said that he should be earning more did i? i said he is overpaid sure if you read back. all im saying is that hes an easy target, what about the people that put the country in the mess.. it certainly was not pat kenny that put the country in the mess

Was only messing man! grin He shouldnt really be in the limelight talking about these issues as he gets paid more than any politician. Ireland is and allways will be a corrupt country!

robpacciani: pat kenny was only doing his job, and its not up to him how much he gets paid!!! RTE offer him a contract.. in my opinion, if you compare pat kenny to professional footballers, the footballers are getting far more than him!!! gerry ryan gets paid just as much if not more than kenny, tubridy aint far off either.. so singling out pat kenny was wrong as he was just doing his job which was talking about the social welfare!!

Ordinarily I'd agree with you but the difference being footballers wages are not paid for by the irish tax payer. Pat Kenny's wage is through the tv licence fee. I can see how some people would feel disgruntled having to pay that kinda money for a tv licence and then you see the likes of Pat Kenny on huge wages. In fairness, only €600,000 a year is more than most people make in ten or twenty years. You wouldn't mind so much if you were getting value for money but you're not. Anyway getting back to the topic, yeah he is very good at his job but in hard times, people are going to find it hard seeing him earning that much when they are struggling to make ends meet....JMO

well that amounts to saying it should be cut it's a clever way of phrasing it without actually saying it should be cut

Its obviously not his fault the country is in a mess and I don't blame the guy. Fair play to him if he is earning that kinda money but like i said, when most people are struggling, its hard to justify paying your tv licence fee just to see someone coming out with that kinda money. Its a bit of a kick in the teeth for a lot of people.....IMO
