and while they continue to hold those elite positions, other up and coming presenters are not getting a chance!!!! As for the license fee, no point in all that advertiseing if nobody can watch it??? so yes we do contribute greatly

so now its pat kenny's fault that the guy is going to jail... where is this going??? at the end of the day, pat kenny is over-paid, but at the same time its not his fault the country is in the mess.. dont hear anyone complaining about the fas chairman that got a 1 million bonus.. and he was a corrupt man.. the blame has to be targeted to the people responsible.

I'm not going to condemn or condone his wage but that is how it works in TV; for every €1 he gets into his paw, he gets RTE €20. Not to say that others can't do his job better but there ya go, he gets it so he must earn it. And I don't like him any more than the next guy FTR.

TV3 is a private company and relies entirely on ad revenue. TG4 is not funded from TV Licence fees, it relies on ad revenue and some indirect grant aid from Semi State bodies. RTE supplies it with some news and it's broadcast network on which they pay a rent. In my opinion, they shame the other channels with quality documentarys and sports coverage

In that case, if you make €30,000 PA your boss makes €3,000,000. Which is a bad deal unless you work printing money

It is not Pat kenny's Job to be the best debater in the country, it is his job to sit down and shut his trap while others debate. Which he does well. He is definitely overpaid but to be fair there are worst offenders than Pat kenny in this regard. At least he doesn't conveniently move his assets to another country to avoid taxes unlike a certain other dublin born celebrity who likes to pontificate.
I can see Losty's point to an extent though. It is our consumption of the media which creates the context in which these people get such ridiculous wages.

Well maybe a few more! but he did make a lot of sense and he had the guts that i wish i had
