Peace isn’t achieved by working with violence or working through it. Peace has its own power, its own scheme for organizing events.

We are looking for substitutes that can satisfy needs that are now being satisfied by war. The old satisfactions aren’t trivial, for adventure, power, and expansion are primary values in life.

If there is no viable way for the average person to participate in adventure, power, and expansion, then even the illusory way of war, with its terrible toll in human life, is preferable to nothing. As we’ll see, if you go deep enough into the way of peace, you find power. You achieve the freedom and excitement that adventure is supposed to bring. You expand in consciousness without having to invade another country and seize its riches.

War is above all a material thing. It involves brute force, bodies fighting against bodies, the destruction of cities that get rebuilt, the squandering of weapons so that more deadly ones can be devised.

If people could achieve satisfaction without destruction, I believe they would. Millions of us want to live without destruction already. Now we are looking for a way to make our will and desire more powerful than war. Fortunately, that isn’t complicated.

According to the ancient Vedic texts, you will know you are living the way of peace when three things are present: Seva: Your actions harm no one and benefit everyone. Simran: You remember your true nature and your purpose for being here. Satsang: You belong in the community of peace and wisdom.

These three S-words come from Sanskrit. They describe the ideal life of any spiritual person. But just as crucial, they unlock a power that materialism can’t defeat, as a rock can’t defeat the rain even though one is hard and the other soft, as a tree can’t defeat the wind, even though one is solid and the other invisible. Power can sound abstract, but satisfaction isn’t. With each S-word comes a satisfaction that war will never be able to match.

With all of the Warmongering going on all over this world,
I am surprised that no one cares to comment on this thread.

Do you live in the community of Peace and Wisdom?
Do you know your purpose?
Do you believe in Harm to None?

Actually I care about peace a great deal . I started group on facebook called world meditation day in order to bring more peace into the world . But I lost my faith in it but everyone is so different and no one seems to really respect others beliefs .

yes we are all different but how do we bring everyone together when everyone is so different and people put up walls between each other just because they can . I think it would take a world disaster or a different species from another world attacking us to bring us together . That sounds really silly now that I just wrote it .

People have been given the opportunity to "get it right", in a beautiful world.
Many have abused it, and the power of freedom for their own
selfish desires and greed.

They have brought about oppression. They build walls.

Many are bound by their hurts, inflicted upon them through the actions of others. They build walls.

Many feel safe with their own kind. They build walls.

Many have different beliefs. They build walls.

Only Love will tear the walls down that fear has built.
Love will keep us together. Love brings Unity.
Peace is found in Love.

It may be just as you say, through major disasters, that the people of this world will finally come together in Peace. The stubbornness of their hearts will not allow them to come until they have lost everything.

It did not have to be this way. But they built walls.
It is what they chose to do.

It would take a deeper wisdom and intelligence than that of the mass populus for this idealistic approach to work I fear.

Investing in education rather than military hardware just ain't going to happen. Lets get back to reality here....

Every problem mankind has now and in the past is due to human greed without question...in the end it will also be our demise.

I like your thread, I can tell you're a spiritual person. I try to do good when I can, especially when it comes to animals...I also believe in karma. I do consider myself fortunate to know why I'm down here on this physical plane classroom.

Yes! WE MUST BE THE PEACE WE WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD!

Yes there could be peace if there were enough people to come out of the closet,and say to the Governments of the world" LOOK THIS IS THE WAY WE WANT IT" Our nation dose not want to spend the money on the technology that it would take to make it happen.They all ways want to point there finger at some other organized group to validate our own violence.
