scriobhneoir: I used the getting from Castletownbere to carlow point as we were speaking hypothetically. my point being that the extra that would be spent to get from castletownbere would be more than 20 euro vis a vis Carlow, I was merly using that to make the comparison easier. It takes the best part of 2 hours nearly to get from Castletownbere to Cork, don't forget.

yet again scribs, you dont have to go near cork.. come up through the county onto newcastle west or charleville dunno this conversation is going nowhere, at the end of the day if you have a diesel engine, 50 quid will get you from cork to enniskillen and back, thats a fact cos i have done it when i was working in little island and whitegate

for years i was handed vouchers for hmv off my godmother,
its the worst thing ever to get a person, its lazy and unthoughtful,
but if it was for a health spa or sumthing decent well then yes, but other than that no definitely not

robpacciani: well im trying this recipe anyways... shoulder of beef chopped up, chopped onion, small full onion, chopped tomato, tomato puree, chestnuts, 2 cloves of garlic, bayleaf, chopped up smokey bacon, chopped up potatoes, red wine , gravy, herbs and seasoning... put cast iron pot on hob full heat, put in my oil, put in beef and cook for 10 mins, then add the chopped onion, bacon, chopped tomato, chestnuts, small onions, bayleaf, tomato puree, garlic, add my gravy and stir up a small bit. add in rosemary too.. let simmer for 5 mins, then put in my red wine, put my chopped potatoes all over the top and dab melted butter on the top of them... put into the oven at 160 degrees for 2 hours and hopefully it will be a classic serve with lovely crispy rolls... what do you think?
It's going to be very rich, personally i'd leave out the garlic and bayleaf and add some veg to take the bite out of the wine. . . JMO!! Other than that it sounds Yummy. .

To be honest it's only unthoughtful if the person is big into the whole presents thing. In that case you'd try to make an effort, but in many cases vouchers are the best option, jmo.
