i am a veteran of the navy myself so i'm very familiar with the regulations that the military has in place concerning religious practices. muslims should be allowed in, but be subject to the same regulations as other religions, which basically means no one of any faith may disperse any kind of literature outside of chapel premises, what the major did is punishable under the uniform code of military justice, he could have lost his commission from just dispersing literature outside of the chapel. also, no person can openly display their religious preferences, that is another regulation in the military.
