LaVerdad: When threads like these are posted I generally find not many will actually discuss, but just want to sow the seeds of their own religious beliefs and propaganda. Such are not prepared to listen to others and debate in a reasonable manner because their minds are closed and some are just completely brainwashed.

I disagree.
I have seen plenty of atheists calling people complete idiots here in CS (quite some time ago, mind you) who had any kind of faith.
However, as with those who have faith, there are also some very nice atheists who choose not to belittle those who do not share their views.
I'm an agnostic rather than an atheist, but I've appreciated the sensible posts of atheists here on CS (not the ones who call other people idiots).
The calm posts of the sensible, decent atheists have helped me confirm my own belief that all the religious texts I have read are 99.999% likely to be the words of imaginative men rather than 'the word of God/Allah/Jehovah'.

I am an atheist Ali. I believe in and practice love, caring, sharing, nurturing, truth, morality etc but I have never needed a book to educate me this way, or to be the member of a club to help keep me on this path. It is just there inside me for some reason and I just get on with it.

Thankyou for your kind words Ali, but I am like RDM59 said in the pervious post.... I read the book once and found it to be a good read... many analagies of the way we should lead our lives, fables and wonderous tales as an example of what good people should do.
I do not need that book to remind me, or others to try and convince me to follow a certain way..... for me.... my way is the best and it's the only one that will get me to the end of my journey.

In general you will find religious people out on the streets, knocking on your door, posting leaflets through the letter boxes more so than people who do not follow religion. Why because they are not interested in trying to convert people.

Plus you must not automatically assume people have not read the Quran or even been educated. What we chose to do with the knowledge that we gain from reading any religious texts is entirely up to ourselves.
