We are a piece of rock in the middle of nowhere....but today I am proud of my little country....

...a new primary school has today started operating totally running on renewable energy.....all power is being generated by solar voltaic cells together with a wind turbine installed on the roof.....obviously all hot water is produced by solar water heaters too....

...cost of the entire building €3.6 million....good investment for a better future don't you think??

peace

..to be fair....all in all we are still a looooooooong way off from being an eco friendly country as a whole....

...but it finally seems the road to change has been taken....

...last few years has seen the introduction of garbage seperation at source....from the home....and various bulk refuse civil amenities....where people can take domestic stuff and place it in for recylcing.....

....solar water heaters are now the norm on most households...and funding is now also available...thanks to EU financial protocols....for the installation of voltaic cells on buildings....

...sewage treatment plants are now also operational across the Islands....and a recylcing plant for household garbage is operational and producing compost for use on the island...

...now we have to go one step further.....we must instill a higher awareness in our people...educate...educate....educate....

peace

....change is possible.....

Eventually it will be the planet...it is the only way to go....

...but truly...this is like a dream coming true for me.....30 years ago when I was still in broadcasting....these themes used to be my forte.....and most people used to laugh at me and call me the crazy DJ.....

laugh

...this comes from a Spanish research company....Intelli Glass.....two sheets of glass with liquid in the middle....has been proven to cut UV rays coming in from the sun outside modern buildings.....most of which are nowadays one solid glass front.....and vice versa does not allow heat to be lost to the outside....cuts down on the need of airconditioning and heating...i.e. less energy needs for human habitat...

...further....Smart cars have just launched their first range of fully electric cars....ideal for city commuting......with a range of 150km before needing charging...which takes place by simply plugging to any household 13A 220V socket for three hours...batteries are litium based....changed every four years....and fully recycable....

that is the way we must go....the future is here....
