Yes in the recent past Inter have been dominant in Italy (but still can't find their way in Europe!). At least, if there's an Italian team that has put up a brave fight against you these past few years, and won a good share of our direct encounters too, it's Roma!

Hi mate, Red Star used to have a really cool team before the civil war there. I remember Pancev, Savicevic & Prosinescki used to play for them right?
How are they faring nowadays, I guess Red Star are still strong in Serbia, any chance of seeing them shining again in the Champions League in the near future?

Red Star Belgrade also won the Champ.Cup in Italy back in 1991. Savicevic was one of the best players this last 25 years. As an AC Milan supporter I have grear memories of the "Genio", especially his goal against Barcellona in the Champ.Cup Final in 1994.

I guess they face the same problem as most other East European clubs, lack of cash right?
It's a pity as when I was a kid back in the 80's I remember a lot of good East European teams giving the richer Western clubs a good run for their money in the then Champions' Cup.
At Roma we currently have Mirko Vucinic who plays for Montenegro. The fans here have nicknamed him 'Il Genio' (The Genius) for his skill, which is also a tribute to Savicevic as he used to have the same nickname in his playing days.

What do you think of Milan's Champions' League draw vs. Man Utd? History favours Milan, but I see it tough this year. There's also a Champions' League thread somewhere around here if you want to post there as well
